Hi everyone! Just letting people share the books they are reading that are not part of the book club. Or books you want to read. Or anything else book related.

I'll start. Right now I'm reading Bridget Jones's Diary (Bridget Jones, #1) by Helen Fielding , which is hilarious and I kind of wish I'd saved it for the book club picks. But probably no one else would read it. All I can compare it to is an adult version of the Georgia Nicholson books--Laugh out loud funny, diary format, weird British humor that sometimes I miss.

Next, I'm going to read more weird British humor as I'm going to start Withering Tights (Misadventures of Tallulah Casey, #1) by Louise Rennison next. What is everyone else reading besides the book club picks?

Brad Creamer | 43 comments i just listened to 2001 a space odyssey....that was pretty good for the most part. I didn't like the ending though. It was weird....but i recommend it....and i just finished blockade billy....not good...its a short novella by stephen king....i figured it out in the first 5 minutes it seemed....blah...would have rather watched fight club!

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
what? There's nothing to 'figure out' because it's about an unsolved mystery!

Rose Hillbrand | 54 comments You didn't even bust Brad for the Fight Club reference!!

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
I got tired of it...

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
I'm listening to Watership Down now. The first couple hours...my mind wandered so much I probably only heard half the story. But it's gotten more interesting since then.

Brad Creamer | 43 comments its not unsolved! the cops had figured out that billy was not billy! it was just a story about what had happened....and it was easy to figure out like 10 min in :P

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
Um, no!!!! the book was supposed to be about an unsolved mystery, which made it very unsatisfying, but...that was it. the point wasn't if billy was billy, it was that they never figured out who it was.

I just finished The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King , which was a lot better than those shorts I was reading by Stephen King. I'm also reading How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr since no one picked it for the next round of book club selections :(

Anna | 26 comments I'm reading Getting Near to Baby by Audrey Couloumbis

I really liked (and own) The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - it was so simple, but really creepy, and even though it's probably been like 10 years since I read it, I still remember parts of it vividly. (Plus it tied into The Dark Tower series at the end, which was cool.)

I'm listening to Identical. And guess what--more freaking incest! Is every YA book now about incest? I"m so mad!

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
Um, no thanks.

Anna | 26 comments I"m reading "Heart of a samurai" which is really really good. It's a young adolescent book and i highly recommend it to everyone!

I just started My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands, which was described as Judy Blume drinking vodka and sleeping with midgets. Or something like that. For the record, she did not have sex with a midget. Also, most of her 'one night stands' are actually more like 3-month relationships. I could totally write a book like this. My friend Amanda and me talked about a compilation book like this once. It could be done.

I made the group all pretty! I put all the books from Round One up top. And check out our to-read shelf for upcoming selections :D

I make me happy!

Rose Hillbrand | 54 comments How do you people have all this time to read books????!

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
It's called an AUDIOBOOK! It's like reading for lazy people.

And Anna--you should be reading Enrique's JOurney!!!

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
I'm reading about ten books right now!

Let's see...I'm reading two books on paper, one during walks and one that i can bring to school and let kids see me reading. These books are: Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale (child appropriate) and Sex and the City by Candace Bushnell (not so much something i can read on my lunch break!)

I'm also listening to The Help by Kathryn Stockett , which i saw a 5th grader reading the other day and i wanted to steal it from her! And I'm listening to The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson which might be good except it's nonfiction and I've discovered that many nonfiction books (especially written by journalists, as Enrique's Journey and this one are) are too dry and poorly written.

Anna | 26 comments Rose wrote: "How do you people have all this time to read books????!"

i only read when i'm in the bathroom, but all of my books lately have been really short

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
You should read Enrique's Journey on the toilet...that will take you a long time!

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
I'm listening to Shooting the Moon by Frances O'Roark Dowell which I think Anna would really like! It's a YA book about the vietnam war. It's really good.

Brad Creamer | 43 comments I started listening to "Carrie" by Stephen King.... so far its GROSS! :)

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
Lol...what's gross about it? I just listened to that. BTW, I'm pretty sure we're teh only ppl still participating in the book club.

Library Lady 📚 | 141 comments Mod
I FINALLY finished the lonely polygamist, which took about 2 centuries...now i can finally listen to something delicious and scandalous! Like The Paris Wife by Paula McLain which I'm already in love with after only one disc out of ten.

I'm reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs which Elana picked for the book club. It's way better than Moon Over Manifest!

I read Nineteen Minutes recently and really liked it, too.
