Ted Lachmansingh | 1 comments My father, Reuben Lachmansingh, just published his first novel based on the Guyanese indentured labourer experience. He did over eight years of research including visiting his ancestral home in Bihar India. You can read more about, including excerpts from, it on this site and it's available for sale on Amazon.com

Reuben Lachmansingh | 2 comments In this novel, you are swept away and relive the experiences of Raja through the sad times and the happy times. You forget that you are reading and that's special. A Dip at the Sangam by Reuben Lachmansingh

One of the poems from the book - 'Mighty Kaieteur' - was featured in 'Explore Guyana 2014' - one of the country's official tourism publications, released at the World Travel Market Fair in London.

Sharon | 7 comments Please add my book The Small Fortune of Dorothea Q to the list! It was published last January, and is set in Guyana.

A new book of mine is coming out on October 1st; it's called The Secret Life of Winnie Cox, also set in Guyana. The Small Fortune of Dorothea Q by Sharon Maas

I'd like to mention again that Guyana is not in Latin America, and I had a hard time finding it the first time I came to this group!

Guyana is considered part of the Caribbean, even though it is on the mainland of South America. We speak English, and are politically, economically, historically, culturally totally West Indians, and not at all Latin. No-one speaks Spanish, which is the definition of a Latin country! So strictly speaking it is South America, not Latin America. But I guess you can't rename the group,. as that would exclude the Central American nations. Oh well.

It's just a pity that we are always misplaced -- most people think we are in Africa!

My new book is not yet on Goodreads, but it IS in AMazon for pre-order. I'll post again as soon as it is on GR. It is historical fiction, set in 1910, on a sugar plantation in British Guiana.
