Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Unearthly was my favorite angel book of the year - much more fresh and real than both Fallen and Hush, Hush. The characters are different and not the same mopey, piney messes that you often see in YA fiction. If I could, I'd tell people to skip the other angel books and just pick this one up instead.

message 3: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I loved this book too! And I have to say that I love the covers.

I'm so excited for the next one.

message 4: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) I loved this too! Definitely my favorite angel book as well! I love Tucker and I can't wait ti read more!

message 5: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) The new one comes out in January? Man, that's so far away.

message 6: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) I know! I hate waiting so long inbetween books. Sometimes I like when i don't hear about a book til the first few are out. LOL. saves me all that wait time. :)

message 7: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I know!

I know that netgalley had Unearthly, so there's a good chance they'll have Hallowed too. I'm going to try to keep my eye out, even though I'll buy it in print, lmao.

message 8: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) I haven't tried netgalley yet but i have heard great things about it. I got Unearthly of BN as an ebook.

Jen (jennifer_ashmy) | 19 comments Stacia, I'm glad to hear that. I'm gonna wait till Unearthly comes out in paperback in November to read it since that is closer to the release of book 2 in January.

But everyone does say, this is the best Angel book out there, so I'm looking forward to it. :)

Carina Cambria wrote: "I know! I hate waiting so long inbetween books. Sometimes I like when i don't hear about a book til the first few are out. LOL. saves me all that wait time. :)"

This is one of the reasons sometimes I refuse to read new series until there are at least 2-3 books out(depending on the size of the series. If I like/love the book the wait for the next one to come out is torture!
I try to stick to this rule as much as I can, and I started after reading Unearthly. This book was sooo good, and to have to wait a year for the next installment...frustrating.
Its one of the things I like in some Adult books. They usually come out every 6 months, which is alot better.

message 11: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I both hate and love the wait between books. On one hand, reading that last page and knowing you have a year wait (4 for my Outlander series) is the worst feeling. It feels like such a long time. But on the other hand, that anticipation really makes getting that book I've waited so long for just that much better.

message 12: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) I know what you mean Wendy, the anticipation can be good but have you ever waited for a book for so long that when it came out and read it you were disappointed because it wasn't as good as you were hoping?

message 13: by Carina (new)

Carina I'm one of those people who likes to read series back to back(if I can), so its not much anticipation to me, its more like TORTURE. LOL, that's exactly how I would describe that all this time waiting for Silence(Hush Hush 3) has been.

message 14: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments Unearthly truly was the best angel book I've read. I was in awe. I read it in one day. That was saying something back when I read it because I was sick as hell with the flu. Tucker is an awesome character. I mean seriously...(view spoiler) (Did the spoiler tag for good measure...)

I am with most of you...the wait kills but sometimes...sometimes...it just makes it worth the wait. That is until those last 10 pages when you know there is another book to come and then you feel happy and pissed off at the same time because you have to wait another damn year. But for me...I use to wait or search for books that were near completion or were completed...now there are just too many new books coming out that interest me and then enrage me because they are all in new series. So I gave up waiting and have put myself in front of the long road to the next installment. I have become comfortably numb to my glutton for punishment ways.

message 15: by Carina (new)

Carina One of the things I loved about Unearthly(and the were lots of things I loved), was the fact that (view spoiler)

message 16: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) There have definitely been finale's that I read and was a bit disappointed in. But it's the anticipation that is torture and fun for me, haha.

It's the same for me. The wait is always torture like with Stolen Nights (Vampire Queen, #2) by Rebecca Maizel which is the sequel to Infinite Days (Vampire Queen, #1) by Rebecca Maizel . OMG with that one! Book 1 came out in august 2010 and book 2 is coming out the summer of 2012? I think.

But I guess I have not learned my lesson because I'm still buying a lot of series. Oh well, lol.

message 18: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments OMG at least I am not the only one going ??? about the sequel to Infinite Days not really having a set publishing date. That book has had me going WTF for forever now.

Anyone have theories on why Christian and Clara are being brought together?

message 19: by Carina (new)

Carina That Is the perfect example Jen. I bought Infinite Days the day it came out and its been horrible waiting for a year, and then finding out that it got pushed back till 2012! I wanted to pull my hair out.
The author finally posted a few weeks back and sorta explained what happened, did you see that Jen?

message 20: by Carina (new)

Carina I have a very small theory that (view spoiler). Its not a very good theory but for some reason it popped in my head when I finished the book. What is yours Hillary?

message 21: by Jen (last edited Sep 05, 2011 05:03PM) (new)

Jen (jennifer_ashmy) | 19 comments Nope Hillary, you're not alone. Me too!

And I did see what she posted, Carina. I did feel that it was a bit of a vague explanation though so it didn't help me feel better about the wait. What I hate is that they keep on changing the publishing dates, constantly! Like at first it was March 2011 then it was June/July 2011 and now i've seen that they put it for June 2012 and then April 2012, like which one is it already, you know? Driving me crazy because I adored Infinite Days and also bought it the day it came out.

If there wasn't such a back and forth/flip flopping with the publishing date, I think the wait would be more painless.

Kristin Cashore does that, it's been like 3 years between her latest books, but I guess it's worth the wait.

message 23: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (narcisse) | 1946 comments Kristin Cashore has some sort of issue with her wrist(s) or hand(s)? that makes it extremely difficult for her to physically type/write/edit or something like that. So I won't fault her for taking a long time with Bitterblue.

Anywho, Tucker is probably one of my favorite love interests in all of YA. I think he's kinda underrated next to the Jaces and whatnot. But he's. so. awesome.

Not an Angela fan. I get this vibe like she's up to some sinister shit. And (view spoiler)

Also, this is one of the prettiest books I've ever seen in person. So shiny. And under the dust jacket is shiny, too. I read an egalley of this but had to buy the finished copy so I'd have some bling on my bookshelves.

message 24: by Carina (new)

Carina Tucker is definetly underrated.

message 25: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments Tucker is great, I'll agree. St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss is another unusual one.

message 26: by Carina (new)

Carina The 'popular' series guys get all the attention. Not that I don't love Jace or anything, but these guys are awesome.
St. Claire = <3!

message 27: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) St. Claire and Tucker are both so awesome, I agree. Completely underrated.

Carina has an interesting take on it. I was thinking more along the lines of (view spoiler)but that's just a thought. And Tucker is one of my most favorites. I also really like Nick from the Need Series.

message 29: by Carina (new)

Carina I thought about Clara and Christian (view spoiler)
I kinda hope my theory isn't right cause it seems like its starting to be repeated in quite a few series.

message 30: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) I haven't read that story line in a lot of stories lately, but I'm a little behind.
I really want to know what's going on with her brother and also whats up with her dad, bc I think for sure there is something....its why her mother isn't saying much. At least i think. lol

message 31: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka I'd bet her father is like, the bad guy of the series. xD

message 32: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 10, 2011 11:57PM) (new)

I've only read Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand so far from this series. This is probably the best YA angel book I've read.

Oh. and I totally love Tucker.

message 33: by Carina (new)

Carina Tucker is freaken awesome.

message 34: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Tucker is ABSOLUTELY awesome!

message 35: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I'm laughing now because we are all saying awesome today. We need to make up a group word that equates to awesome and use it everywhere just to confuse people who aren't in here.

message 36: by Carina (new)

Carina I use awesome waaay too much. We should definetly make our own dictionary for words we use all the time, it would be hilarious to see other people freak out about it! lol

So, I wonder what the deal is with Clara and Christian: (view spoiler)
God, I'm driving my self mad with all my speculations and theories about this series. Hallowed can't get here fast enough.

message 37: by Stacia (the 2010 club), groupaholic, YA-MA founder (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I was wondering that too. Was the other girl not his ex? Because I thought he so done with his ex. (I don't think that's very spoilery, so I'm not tagging it)

Cambria has a theory that (view spoiler)

I'm curious to see what's going to happen with the brother and who exactly is going to end up bad or good. It seems like we might end up guessing things about the wrong people.

message 38: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 76 comments I hardly remember what happened in this. I know I loved it, but I still can't remember. I had theories and I will have to go look and see if some are still around. One group I know I posted my theories of it on was closed so I hope I put some in my review.

message 39: by Carina (new)

Carina Well the now ex was still dating Christian at the beggining of the book, right?
I'm gonna have to re-read this one before the second comes out. That would be a good theory though, and I love it when series make you guess and create theories on what's gonna happen. Reminds me of Richelle Mead...

Samantha | 178 comments Okay someone pointed this article out to me in another group because it looks like Kim Harrison's Hollows series could be a TV series, but after reading the article it looks as though Unearthly may be on the small screen, too.

I think that would be very interesting! Any ideas for who would play the leads???

For those interested here's the article:

Hmmmm, interesting. I don't see it as a show, but I imagine they will change a lot. I loved the book so I am definitely excited to see if it gets picked up for a full season.

message 45: by Carina (new)

Carina Maybe I'll be the only one with this opinion, but I don't really want them to make this book a TV series.

message 46: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm not overly thrilled with this one either. I loved the book, but for some reason I didn't get excited when I heard that.

message 47: by Carina (new)

Carina Wendy F wrote: "I'm not overly thrilled with this one either. I loved the book, but for some reason I didn't get excited when I heard that."

I feel the same way. As a book I was really blown away, but I don't know what it is that makes me really nervous about it coming to tv. That they'll change too much maybe?

message 48: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I think it's just because I'm not sure I think that they can actually do it and make it right.

message 49: by Carina (new)

Carina I've heard that the people who read The Secret Circle books are disappointed with the show because its very different. I think I'm afraid the same will happen with this one.

message 50: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 178 comments I think conveying the same story across different mediums is always a challenge and this story does have quite a lot of facets. In the end you jut can't please everybody. I'm happy for the author.
