I am going to do the 400+ page one as well. I will also see what I can read off the bestbooks.org site. Not sure yet.
Any thoughts about giving a bonus point or two for longer books? Like 1 bonus point for books over 750 pages, 2 points for books over 1000 pages?
Okay technically there aren't any points, but each book in this case, is worth one point. Shay was asking if we could be awarded for reading bigger books. 1 point for 400+ pages, 2 points for 750+, and 3 points for 1000+ pages. Make sense?

I'm going to stick with just the 400+ challenge for this month, seeing as I didn't get a chance to read any of the books for the teen reading list challenge in august :( I'll post these as I go. I think I'll aim for five to start and see where I can go from there.
Not sure how many points I'm hoping to aim. Depends on what books I read, so i'll just say 8 books, points are opt. according to the books.
1. The World According to Garp by John Irving (609 pages, 1 point)2. Blue Moon by Laurell K. Hamilton (418 pages, 1 point)
3. Obsidian Butterfly by Laurell K. Hamilton (596 pages)
4. The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston (629 pages)
5. Still Life with Crows by Douglas Preston
6. Brimstone by Douglas Preston (752 pages, 2 points)
7. The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
8. Dance of Death by Douglas Preston
9. The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston
10. People of the Wolf (First North Americans by W. Michael Gear
11. The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien
12.Vixen by Jillian Larkin
Zakiya wrote: "Shay, why two points? You would only get 1 for that one. It's not 750 pages."You're right, thanks. Made the correction.
finished:Retribution - 448 pages...ugh, is all I can say...thankfully it was a fast read - but glad I got it from the library
I have a question on the 400+ pages one. Do we read books more than 400 pages long? I just finished reading
and it is only 400 pages and was wondering if I should count it for the 400+ pages challenge.
Zakiya wrote: "yep, that would count for the challenge! as long as it's at least 400 it counts :)"Okay good! So I finally finished one book for the challenge, lol!
Haha, I understand that one! This seems to be hard for me this month, because all of my books want to be stubborn LOL :) I've only got one book that happened to be on the website.
I just finished
which is 406 pages. This makes it now 2 books I have read this month over 400 pages!
I made my goal. I read 10 books (11 points):1. The World According to Garp by John Irving (609 pages, 1 point)
2. Blue Moon by Laurell K. Hamilton (418 pages, 1 point)
3. Obsidian Butterfly by Laurell K. Hamilton (596 pages)
4. The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston (629 pages)
5. Still Life with Crows by Douglas Preston
6. Brimstone by Douglas Preston (752 pages, 2 points)
7. The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
8. Dance of Death by Douglas Preston
9. The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston
10. People of the Wolf (First North Americans by W. Michael Gear
11. Vixen by Jillian Larkin
12. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
13. Fires in the Dark by Louise Doughty
14. The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan
its def. been a slow reading month for me - but I have a couple of longer ones that i'm starting now that i'll hopefully finish before the end of the month
It has been slow as well for me...I think I am reading maybe one right now...Oh well. Maybe next months challenge.
Glad to see I'm not the only one whose had a slow go of this challenge. I've only finished one so far. I have a longer one going that would count for it, but it's been really hard to get into
I'm currently working on reading two long books this month. I'm not sure that I'll get them finished by the end of September. I read approx. 50 pages in each of the books each day (in addition to the shorter books that I average reading 1-4 a week). The longer books that I'm currently reading are:
The Land of Painted Caves by Jean M. Auel (9.1-9.28)&
Through Wolf's Eyes by Jane LindskoldWill post a reading status update by the end of the month.
I finished The Land of Painted Caves but neglected to finish Through Wolf's Eyes in September.
I just finished
which is 454 pages long. This now makes three books I have completed for this challenge so far.
Finished my second book!From website:
~ The Notebook (under Fiction)
400+ pages:
~ The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (644 pages)
Zakiya wrote: "Awesome reading, Amy!"Thank you! It's funny how most of the time, the page numbers on goodreads does not match the page numbers of the actual books in your hands.
Right! And then, usually, if you do find a version that DOES have the right amount of pages, it's not the version you have. LOL! :p
