Hello everyone! I'm excited that you joined our group and can't wait to have some wonderful discussion with you. I was doing some housecleaning and added some new folders. The children's monthly group read now has its own folder which is under the monthly group read discussion. The buddy reads folder is under that and so is the author discussion folders. If you are interested in posting a new thread, please feel free, just make sure that it is nice and clean! No swearing or vulgarity!
Thanks again and happy reading!

Due to space constraints, we could only list the top 5 threads in each folder. So if you want to see past discussions, make sure that you check out the right side of the folder and you will find a "all" or a number of that will show you how many threads are in the folder.

Most of the buddy reads just start between two people who want to read the same book and it is different than the monthly group read. There is no rhyme or reason to them. The Pere Goriot started when I saw the Music Man and wondered if anyone had read Balzac. Rather random!

I'm game reading anything for book clubs. This one is centered around the classics, but I have a IRL club that reads anything that the hostess wants to read for that month. I have read some wonderful books that I never would have picked up due to that club! Well, that also includes this one too.

Magda Allani | 25 comments Have you read Sarah Dunant? I started off on her Birth of Venus and find all her books both riveting and informative about the historical period in which they are set.

Of course, I'd love it if you read my first book too, Dark Waters - Chronicle of a Story Untold. It's about my experience of surviving a disaster and about the fashion and Cambridge crowd in 80s London. It's had good responses so far, but to my knowledge not been a book club topic so far. It would be great to have your feedback.

No, I have not heard of her before! I will have to go pick up one of her books, which would you recommend?
Wow , congrats on being published! I'll check you book out also.

Magda Allani | 25 comments Thanks Lisa.

For Sarah Dunant, start off with the Birth of Venus - quite engrossing and learned too!

Julie Wright (toomanyhats) Lisa, where will I find out what the next read is? I just joined and have read East of Eden, and while I would jump on reading it again, I'm pretty busy between now and the 31st. I usually order books from the library, so if I could find out what book you'll be into for next month, I can jump on getting it in advance. Thanks! Julie

We are just now nominating some books for Nov and Dec group reads and then we will vote by poll starting on Oct 26th. The first and second place books will be Nov and Dec group reads. That is a long answer for "I'm not sure yet" but it will appear on/or around Nov 1st! Good grief, what a convoluted answer! I hoped that helped!
