Amber I love reading dog books. It can be either about dogs or where dogs are the main character.

Here are just a few dog novels I have read.

Merle's Door: Lessons from a Freethinking Dog by Ted Kerasote (reading this now)
Walking in Circles Before Lying Down by Merrill Markoe
Marley & Me: Love and Life with the World's Worst Dog by John Grogan
Jack Russell Terriers for Dummies by Deborah Britt-Hay

On my "to read" list:
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron

Amelia Painter (amelia_painter) Right now I am reading Rescuing Sprite: A Dog Lover's Story of Joy and Anguish by Mark Levin. So far I am finding it a very enjoyable read. You would never know that the author is an attorney. The prose is clear, simple and very much to the point. I like his writing style.

On my "to read" list:
A Big Little Life by Dean Koontz

New Book Announcement: Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun

Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun by Jass Richards

Picking up where This Will Not Look Good on My Resume left off (sort of—is it a job if you really like what you’re doing?) (and don’t really get paid for it?), Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun is a collection of funny, feel-good, happy-ever-after dog stories (fiction) told by the ever-quirky, ever-sarcastic Brett. Also featured are her own two dogs, Kessie and Snookums, and her four regulars, Chum, Hunk, Little Miss, and Spunky Doo.

These 2 books are great! I loved both of them.
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron

Alicia (amalley71) | 5 comments Does anyone know of any other series that are similar to the Chet series by Spencer Quinn or Andy Carpenter series by David Rosenfelt? I love these series and am looking for more like these to read.

message 15: by Neil (new)

Neil Plakcy (neilplakcy) | 2 comments I would like to humbly suggest my golden retriever mysteries, which have been compared (by others, I swear!) to both those series. The first is In Dog We Trust and there are four more after that. They take place in Bucks County, PA, and star a golden retriever named Rochester who the local cop refers to as a "death dog," because of his habit of finding bodies and bones.

Kari (keneumey) | 1 comments Lots of great books listed here. My all-time favorite is Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst, and recently, Suspect by Robert Crais (about a police dog).

Cynthia Port | 4 comments I love children's books about dogs, so I'm gonna say: For the Love of Winn Dixie. Some of you might also like my book, Kibble Talk. It's about a girl who discovers that when she eats dog kibble, she can hear dogs talking. Because they're always getting people food, they can hear us too. Her Great Dane's dream is to be a tiny lap dog, and she promises to help. It's a funny and fast read with 35 five-star reviews on Amazon and counting. FREE on Barnes and Noble, Smashwords and Kobo, and only 99 cents on Amazon. Hope you will check it out!

Meike (meikereads) In case there are German-speaking dog lovers out here: I just found out that the new book by Martin Rütter (Germany`s most famous trainer for people who own dogs) will be out April 6th: Problem gelöst! mit Martin Rütter. Unerwünschtes Verhalten beim Hund

...oh, and do you guys think that these Temple Grandin-books are any good? I am contemplating whether to read one...
