What did you find disappointing about the book, or about the dog’s experiences?

Nothing. Once I got the idea of how it was working, it was a work of art to me to see how the author made such an interesting concept come to life.
I JUST HATED THE PERIODS OF NEGLECT AND ABUSE. I JUST WANTED TO STRANGLE VICTOR AND WENDI. SOME PEOPLE SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO BE PARENTS!
I also wanted to strangle Victor and Wendi. I get emotional at those ASPCA commercials with Sarah McLachlan... they make me want to go adopt all the sad, lonely animals in the world. I am one marital status away from being an animal hoarder :)
Gals, I'm not saying I liked the rough patches. Unfortunately, in this story, it was the way it was. Don't we all know examples of animals (and people for that matter) that have been neglected and ignored. I think it is an essential part of the story to get our gander up just as it did Cheryl and Julie. Doesn't mean I like it, but the author was pointing out to us the reality of how it is out there.
By the way, Emily, HOW ARE YOUR NEW KITTIES. I posted you a question about them a couple weeks ago and haven't heard back. They too are examples of animals that are going into a good home. Dog or cat person, HOORAY FOR US!!! (or fish, hermit crab) or whatever!

I agree Carol- as sad as they were, those parts were necessary and definitely helped me empathize with Bailey.
Yes those parts were necessary...and I am also a person who has to turn off the ASPCA commercials or I call and give them my credit card or end up with another dog ( which would serioulsy impact my marital status as my husband kindly reminds me). The only part of the book I was disapointed with was that it wrapped up so neatly, I wish there was something left to ponder.
