I'm impressed, those are a lot of books, Diane! Have you read many of them? :) I'd like to add the novels of Isak Dinesen, including Winter's Tales, Last Tales etc. They are lovely.

Ed: Ack! I just remembered that those are set in Denmark. Sorry, my bad. I actually read them while I was in Sweden, hence the confusion. How about the detective Martin Beck novels, by Maj Sjowall and Per Wahloo? I read a number of them and they were pretty good.

Sadly, I have only read a few. I have enjoyed all that I have read so far. I own a bunch of them and it is hard to decide what to read next. I was very fortunate to run across most of the books in Maj Sjöwall's series in Goodwill one day. I look forward to reading them soon.
