Hello, I'm Emma from the Philippines. I know it's kind of late for posting in this thread but I like to introduce 2 books from my country:
One of my all time favorites: Noli Me Tangere (latin: Touch Me Not) and its sequel, El Filibusterismo by Jose Protacio Rizal. It is set in the Philippines during the Spanish regime. It is also quite controversial as it exposes the dark side of the government and the Spanish Priests during the colonization.
Both books are for required reading here in the Philippines. It is actually bound by the law :)
My name is Terrence Perera from Sri Lanka and I have written four books, all with Sri Lankan backgroundshttps://www.amazon.com/author/terrenc...

@Francesco, I've been looking for exactly this tip for a couple of years. Adding to my TBR now.
Two of my recent favourites set in Asia are Pachinko by Korean born, American resident Min Jin Lee, and Singapore born, American resident Kevin Kwan's Crazy Rich Asians and its sequels. Moving and beautifully written, Lee's novel follows several generations of a Korean family from their home in Korea to their decades-long, stateless sojourn in Japan. While Kwan's book is a hilarious satire on the lives of the uber-wealthy, old-money Chinese of Singapore and Hong Kong and the nouveau riche from mainland China. Very different books that take the reader to fascinating worlds.
