Three great reviews, Lana (my apologies for calling you Cathy!) Katie Morag books are great for teaching Geography as well: looking at a location quite different from London. Struay is based on the Island of Coll in the Inner Hebrides. I've been there; it's beautiful

It's a lovely book; Judith Kerr is an incredibly prolific writer- The Tiger Who Came to Tea is still popular, amazingly 40 years after it was written.

Great review, Sandile. I recommend Goodbye, Mog as another sensitive book about death for young children (and Mog is such a popular character, it is upsetting for children that love her) and for older children, Michael Rosen's Sad Book. I agree with you, we do shy away from books about death with children, but it is unlikely that children will leave primary school without experiencing the death of someone close, even if it is of a pet.
