Marty (martyjm) | 310 comments I see several I will get. Donaldson, Huff and Weber. possibly more, always that possibility.

message 3: by Candiss (new)

Candiss (tantara) | 1207 comments You know I always have to start my post with the ones that got away. ;)

- Missing from the list: Briarpatch by Tim Pratt (Sept. 13)- I recently read an ARC of this title, and it was really good. (I need to write up a review.) I will probably pick up a copy to support the author, whose other work I have enjoyed, as well.

- Missing from the list: The Only Ones by Aaron Starmer (Sept. 13) - I'm looking forward to this one.

- Missing from the list: The Pattern Scars by Caitlin Sweet (Sept. 15)

- Missing from the list: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (Sept. 27) - This title is making a lot of waves on not only the YA sf/f circuit, but also some adult lit sites. It is prophesied to be an upcoming "thing."

- Missing from the list: Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs - another YA fantasy title that's getting a good bit of buzz

------------------
From the titles listed, I'm interested in Stephenson's Reamde, All Men of Genius, and The Revisionists (which I have in ARC and need to get read.) Ten Billion Days and One Hundred Billion Nights interests me, as well, as I tend to enjoy Japanese lit, and this is called "the greatest Japanese science fiction novel of all time". (It was originally released in 1973.)

I don't think the folks who compiled that list include YA on it. Not sure why. In either case, there's too much of it for me to add it manually, so I've just changed my original "PS" to say that everyone can let us know about missing books in the comments, leaving out the part that I'll add them to the original post :)

And yes - new Stephenson! I'm somehow going to find a way to squeeze this one into my schedule. Maybe I'll just not sleep for a few days. Yeah, that might work.

Shannon (_shannon) I'll be reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor for sure. Really looking forward to it.

It's odd. I don't tend to read YA much at all, but I've seemed to become aware of a bunch of it lately. I'm trying to be open-minded enough to at least give a few of the less romancey ones a try. (I loved the ubiquitous Hunger Games trilogy, for instance.)

Just for everyone's quick info, Briarpatch is definitely not YA, but the others I listed either are or may well be.

I definitely want to pick up The Broken Kingdoms now that it's in pb.

Phoenixfalls | 187 comments How odd. . . absolutely nothing for me this month. That makes me sad. . . but it makes my wallet a bit happier. ;)

message 9: by Sandi (new)

Sandi (sandikal) | 338 comments I'm saving my Audible credits for The Broken Kingdoms and Ganymede. Both are third books in series that I read the first volume in print and listened to the audio for the second, and the audio was wonderful.

message 10: by Ron (new)

Ron (ronbacardi) | 302 comments Neal Stephenson's Reamde, absolutely; the new Ken Macleod, ditto; Erikson's new Baushenlomb and Koral Broach story, when finances allow; Tanya Huff's new Valour novel, absolutely, have to support the local talent y'know; Slonczewski and Mitsuse if I ever see them in mmpb; and of course Kevin J Anderson's "Captain Nemo of Dune".

I also have the new Valour novel by Tanya Huff on my list. Not sure about anything else right now.

message 12: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) Readers of PNR (not me) might be interested in Dark Predator by Christine Feehan, which came out September 6th.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) I read Blackbringer by Laini Taylor, and I liked her writing, but I'm not sure about this new one. Sounds kinda weird - but I'll see what people say about it.

I might pick up The Black Prism by Brent Weeks at some point, and that The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern looks pretty interesting.

message 14: by Random (new)

Random (rand0m1s) | 1271 comments Definitely Stephenson's Reamde
I recently finished Ready Player One and I'm curious on how the two books might compare.

I'm also drooling over The Legacy of Kings
I gave in on the second book and bought it in hardback, but I really want to hold off on this one until the ebook comes out.

message 15: by Helen (new)

Helen Released in the UK on kindle this month is The Magician King. Also a scifi #2 Time's Secret by J M Dattilo, #1 Time's Edge was very entertaining. I also want Daughter/smoke/bone.

Did you ever read Laini Taylor's 'Lips Touch: Three Times'? It's amazing. 3 short stories, which I typically do not like but these were really well written. One of my favs. If you haven't read it, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

message 17: by Hélène (new)

Hélène (hlneb) The mail should deliver One Salt Sea by Seanan McGuire very soon.
I'm interested in Tanya Huff, Kate Elliott and David Weber.
I'm not sure about Into the Hinterlands.
I should have read The Black Prismlast month for the Fantasy Book Club! but I haven't manage to pick it up yet.

No. It seemed a little too romancy for my tastes, but I'll give it another gander if it's that good. :>
