Chris Haught (haughtc) | 903 comments I started this the other day, just out of the random. I needed something light, something that wasn't a "group read" anywhere.

I'm about halfway through and liking it a lot. Most of it is WC origin stuff, getting the basics in place.

This is the edition I'm reading: Wild Cards (Wild Cards, #1) by George R.R. Martin . I found it on PBS last year sometime and jumped at the chance.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 903 comments Just thought I'd mention, this book is back in print again: Wild Cards 1.

It has three new stories too.

GRRM has said that Tor will be releasing the 2nd and 3rd WC books as well, though they won't have new stories.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 903 comments Awesome, Maggie. I've gotten a little stalled on "Down Deep" but hoping to get back on it tonight. I should be done by now.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 903 comments I just noticed that my contents for this (above) didn't include the three new stories. So here they are:

"Captain Cathode and the Secret Ace" Michael Cassutt
"Powers" David D. Levine
"Ghost Girl Takes Manhattan" Carrie Vaughn

I bought the ebook of the new edition when it was on sale, but haven't read the new stories yet. I probably will before I pick up #2.

message 7: by Jim (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I HATE it when different editions of a book have different stories. I'd like to read them at some point, but I'll be damned if I'll spend money to buy another copy of a book that I already have. Wild Cards takes up a whole shelf already.

Croyd & Captain Trips are my favorite characters, I think.

Weenie | 1 comments Just finished this - not generally a fan of short stories but I liked the recurring characters/shared world. I'm finding the Jokers more interesting than the Aces, although as per Jim, my favourite character so far is Croyd ((view spoiler)). Looking forward to reading more of the series.
