Why did you choose these two books as one of your top choices?

Michael | 5 comments I have always loved comics. I was a big fan of Archie comics and made my own comics as a child so the graphic novel selections appealed to me. When I heard American Born Chinese I thought about the close friends I made in college who were born in the United States and who are Chinese and thought it would be interesting to know about experiences they might have had growing up.

Veronica Hennessey | 3 comments In an earlier English class I read a graphic novel called Persepolis and I loved it so I was very intrigued to read another graphic novels. I enjoy having visuals to help me along with the story and interpreting how the illustrations add to the story. I also found the book Yummy to be a very interesting topic, as school violence increases it seems that people are always trying to figure out why so the idea of a book that explored that concept intrigued me.

Sarrah (sarrahdinh) | 5 comments I love reading different kinds of books and graphic novels are no exception. Graphic novels are relatively new to me (I think I've only read 2 or 3 of them) and I wanted to add more graphic novels to my reading repertoire. As a visual learner, and a doodler, I feel that I can appreciate the drawings that will be accompanying these reading selections.

Leslie Calvert | 5 comments I am excited about reading graphic novels! I have never really read a graphic novel but think they would be fun to integrate into the classroom. I don't really like reading but think graphic novels will engage me and make me want to read. Although I did not pick this group I am happy to be in it :) Go team!
