Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) I also read the first book in the Anita Blake series...that was an odd book...I didn't really start to enjoy it until the last third of the book. Has anyone read more of the series and do you recommend it? I heard it pretty much just turns into pornography...

I heard great reviews about that series. A friend of mine recommend it to me. Also one of my brother's ex-friend says that it's one of the best books. I already have it in my reading list.

So I know one of these days I am going to give it a try. =)~

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments I wish I coud find a decent adult vampire book. One cleverly written for an adult audience. Like the great classic "Carmilla" by Sheridan LeFanu.

I have also added Carmilla in my TBR list. I've been wanting to read that one for awhile. =)~

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments Hey Burgendya I am trying to start a Carmilla topic. Like everyone else does with Twilight and such. So read the book and check my topic. Carmilla! Who are your favorite characters, what dig you dig about the book, and stuff like that. So read it and contribute to my disscussion of the book. It is the best vampire story bar none. Cheers, Cary

Angie (angiebowen) I read the first Anita Blake book and enjoyed it but haven't moved on to book 2 yet because I don't want to get attached to the story and characters only to have the story disappear later down the road.

I've also been wanting to read Carmilla, I've heard so much about it and it sounds wonderful!

Cary - The Sookie Stackhouse books are really good adult vampire stories. I haven't read Carmilla yet so I can't say how it compares and since Carmilla is considered a classic, I'm not sure it would compare. But I highly enjoyed the series and am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments Sounds cool to me. Any vampire book where the kids are out of High School would be a pleasant change,LOL.

Angie (angiebowen) In that case I highly recommend the Sookie Stackhouse books. I don't think there are any teenagers at all in the books.

For anyone wanting to read Carmilla, I just found it available for free online here http://www.sff.net/people/Doylemacdon...

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments You ought to read it FFN. It is real deal Gothic. I got my first House of Night series "Marked" I hope I am not disapointed again. Series books just don't do it for me however. I like single long story books. That come to a definite end. People write series to make $$$$$ not good books. With the exception of Varney the Vampire aka Feast of Blood,LOL

I just started reading book #15 of the Anita Blake series. I have not read any other book in the series, I just randomly picked it up.

So far... it's TERRIBLE!

I'm having a hard time finding good vamp story. =/

Cary (vortigern) | 804 comments There is no school like old school. Read the early Gothic Vampire stories first. In the order they were written. Carmilla, Dracula, The Mysterious Stranger, Mrs Amworth, The Tomb of Sarah, The Mystery in the Capagna, all the stories are at http://horrormasters.com/Themes/vampi... The Sookie Stackhouse series. Which is the only series I can stand. and Vampires Suck.

I've read many of the classics. I'm trying to find something modern but none of it seems to be very good. The only modern vamp stories I like are Interview With the Vampire and Vampire Wars (Warhammer).

I've heard good things about Sookie Stackhouse, but then again I heard good things about Twilight and Anita Blake and those turned out to be flops.

I'm trying to finish Anita Blake but it isn't getting any better.
