Member participation in this group is important to us so that everyone can share their experiences with the genre and their likes and dislikes. While we realize that many people prefer to lurk, this does not provide the participation we would like. All members are encouraged to post and if you do not participate, then you will be removed from the group after two months.

We are just looking to have a group where we can have some really good conversations re: Nordic Noir and that the group is really seen as a reference for the genre.
I was just joshing you, Dee and Naomi. I agree wholeheartedly with your rule. I love to read, but I also love a lot of participation and discussion. Great rule.
Notice how Dee got really quiet! Just my opinion, but this is just a genre that I would really love to break down and rip apart...it is such a unique way of writing.
Oops, okay! But I am currently in the middle of The girl who played with fire. That and two more books are my whole experience with Nordic Noir! Also, so far I have read them in Spanish, my native language. I am planning to read more since I am tremendously ejoying Stieg Larsson's books. But I'm also writing my dissertation. So it takes time to finish a book... :S
its cool Ana - come by and chat in the intro thread, or the why you like NN thread - we should probably start a Larsson one thinkign about it
No fears...just let us know that you are still alive..Hopefully we can give you some other information to look at to expand from Stieg Larsson. Dee is in the middle of her Ph.D. program..so hopefully(never know with Dee, tehehehe) she can show you some sympathy!!
trust me...I have all the sympathy in the work for people doing their dissertation - Ana we shall have to talk ;)
lol! we are allowed to have outside editors...no this was an author that spammed my blog on a random review wanting me to read her book for military issues
Naomi wrote: "Don't Ana!! She will try to talk you into writing her dissertation! tehehehe"LOL, as long as Dee writes mine!
Okay... but I did introduce myself in the Introductions thread, days ago. I don't want to read posts on Stieg Larsson nor the Millenium Trilogy before I finish reading the books. What if someone, inadvertently, spoils my expectations! :S
Okay, okay. I will try to participate, though I much prefer to be the quiet kid in the back of the class.
I confess to being a bit of a wallflower, but I realize it will be good for me to step out of my comfort zone and muss up the courage to add my two cents worth to the discussion. This is a great idea!

Wow-this is scary. Not that I'm usually shy. Or able to keep my mouth shut (or, I guess, my keyboard fingers still) for 2 months, but sheesh.
I can see this is really "Nordic Noir"-I'm surprised the only penalty is being removed from the group, lol.
Hey, wait. What exactly do you mean by "removed"?
I'll participate. I promise.
as for removed, the mods can remove a member from the group, and if that happens, the member can't just join again - they have to request permission
We just want to make sure the group is a discussion group. In a ton of GR groups, the groups are large, but the majority of people are lurkers which really does nothing to promote discussions. If someone comes to the group, there is a reason for it and we want to make sure that we can offer it!Also, it is not like if you don't make a comment everyday that we are going to chop your hands off (alright I won't do that, can't guarantee Dee!) but we want to know that you are alive.
one joint at a time - start with the finger tips, and then do the second joint...got to draw out that torture
I am not a good participant nor am I a good friend. However, I am a voracious reader. I will read the monthly book and try to make benign, constructive comments. It's hard when one is an opinionated bully.

@ Old Crow...Have you seen some of us!! We could take on some debating and you did use the word constructive!!

I find it hard to believe that anyone could corrupt you, dearie.
I don't know..you know that Dee...she is a pretty corrupting person..plus, you saw her earlier posts re: utilizing violence AND torture in the group!!

*Removed* is a euphamism, like sanctioned, liquidated, etc. I essence, it means the moderators will hunt you down and you will disappear. It sounds harsh, but encourages people to contribute.
