Hey all! I'm really in the mood for some books about the Fae. I would really appreciate any rec's. Also, I'm looking for more of an adult story rather than YA.

Books/series I have read involving fae:
Storm Born
Darkfever
Wicked Lovely
Dead Until Dark

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Truthseeker (Worldwalker Duology #1) by C.E. Murphy Wayfinder (Worldwalker Duology #2) by C.E. Murphy I recently read them both and they are pretty good reads. Both are considered adult.

A really good YA one is The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa

I can't think of any other adult ones. I am sure someone else can though. :)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Anya Bast's Dark Magick series. There are three books out so far and the 4th one is in the works. Wicked Enchantment (Dark Magick, #1) by Anya Bast Cruel Enchantment (Dark Magick, #2) by Anya Bast Dark Enchantment (Dark Magick, #3) by Anya Bast

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments This is not your usual fey but is perhaps the best series I have ever read (very close call) Five books and the series is finished. I could not put them down and when I did I picked them up and read them all over again. Not YA.

Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson Lady of Light and Shadows (Tairen Soul, #2) by C.L. Wilson King of Sword and Sky (Tairen Soul, #3) by C.L. Wilson Queen of Song and Souls (Tairen Soul, #4) by C.L. Wilson Crown of Crystal Flame (Tairen Soul, #5) by C.L. Wilson

If you like stories of the fey from back when people really believed in them (5th century) the Sevenwaters series is wonderful and starts with Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier There are five books and another one to come - written by an incredible Australian author.

Neither of these series are YA but they are not over the top graphic either.

There are only two books out but it is a great series. Grave Witch
Grave Dance

Brenna Lyons (BrennaLyons) | 177 comments Some I can suggest...

The Eternal Cycle trilogy by Danielle Ackley-McPhail
Any of Elaine Corvidae's fae...
My own FAIRY DREAMS.

You can find all of these at Mundania Press, if you're interested.

Nita (gillnit) The Shadowfae Chronicles are a bit dark and twisted, but each book has a hea. I enjoyed them. The first book is Shadowfae (The Shadowfae Chronicles, #1) by Erica Hayes .

message 9: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Belfield (jabelfield) I got my hands on an ARC of The Glass Man (A Lila Gray Novel, #1) by Jocelyn Adams . It's Jocelyn Adams debut novel, due out in a month. I really enjoyed the pace of the story, as well as the descriptions and characters. Would deffo recommend. :o)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 407 comments I agree with Terri that the Sevenwaters series and anything by Julliet Marillier, (actually NZ author now living and writing in OZ)is great. I describe it as Celtic folk/fantasy with a healthy dash of romance. Beautifully written and lovely stories.

PS The Shadowfae Chronicles are also written by an Australian Author but they are a lot more dark and a higher heat factor.

Sharon Lipman (sharonlipmanauthor) | 56 comments You could try Laurell K. Hamilton's Meredith Gentry series. She's an acquired taste and the books are definitely adult, but I enjoyed them. First in the series is A Kiss of Shadows

Amanda (mskat) | 11 comments Agree with the recommendations for Juliet Marillier's books. The Sevenwaters trilogy are some of the dearest books to my heart. Love them! The Celtic mythology woven throughout is beautifully done and the romance is present without being overwhelming.

Danielle | 5 comments Okay...all appearances to the contrary, this is not blatant self-promotion, but have you heard of the Bad-Ass Faeries anthologies? They are also from Mundania Press. They were cited in a New York Times article as a good sampling of the urban fae genre. There are a lot of great authors in here that write about the fae. Those with novels are L. Jagi Lamplighter, Elaine Corvidae, Keith R.A. DeCandido, Patrick Thomas, and myself.

Bad-Ass Faeries
Bad-Ass Faeries 2: Just Plain Bad
Bad-Ass Faeries 3: In All Their Glory

This one is from Dark Quest Books but is based on my biker faeries from the Bad-Ass Faeries anthologies: The Halfling's Court: A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale

L. Jagi Lamplighter is absolutely fantastic and she weaves myth and the fae and all kinds of other cool things into this series:
Prospero Lost
Prospero in Hell
Prospero Regained

Elaine has too many books to link to here, but most of them deal with the fae in one sense or anotherElaine Corvidae

Dragon Precinct
Unicorn Precinct

Patrick Thomas

And, depending on how you interpret fae, anything by P.C. Hodgell

Melissa War for the Oaks by Emma Bull - stand alone novel featuring fae

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 538 comments More urban fantasy than romance, but:
Rosemary and Rue (October Daye, #1) by Seanan McGuire
October Daye series (4 books so far) is great!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 461 comments I second the Bad Ass Faerie volumes. They are scrumptious.

Why not try an anthology like The Faery Reel: Tales From the Twilight Realm? I little bit of everything.

If you want noirish urban fantasy, the Mark Del Franco Connor Gray series is very good for fae.

Unshapely Things (Connor Grey, #1) by Mark Del Franco Unquiet Dreams (Connor Grey, #2) by Mark Del Franco Unfallen Dead (Connor Grey, #3) by Mark Del Franco Unperfect Souls (Connor Grey, #4) by Mark Del Franco Uncertain Allies (Connor Grey, #5) by Mark Del Franco

Jeanine (truejourney) | 315 comments I second Terry's recommendation of the Tairen Soul series. DO NOT let the covers fool you! It is an awesome series!

Katie (skateanddonate) The Darkly series by Tarrant Smith are enjoyable.

Mercedes Lackey has a series out about race-car driving elves. Wheels Of Fire is one of the books. Altho it turns out the "race cars" are actually Faerie steeds. More UF than anything else, but a good read.

Boo Boo Kitty Have you read Darkfever by Karen Marie Moeing?

message 22: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessadia) | 2 comments Have you read Tithe (A Modern Faerie Tale) by Holly Black? It's a YA read but has a harsher edge to it (drinking, smoking, cursing.....)
