I just bought the ebook of Out Stealing Horses, I'm so happy! Now I can finally continue my journey... Have been looking for a while for this book but couldn't find it anywhere where I could buy it, since I live in the Netherlands and a lot of website's have country restrictions if you try to buy the ebook. I actually cheated a little, I pretended to live in Switzerland (with an address from a hostel) and was able to order, pay en download the book like that :) jeeeh! (I don't feel to bad about that since I tried a lot of other 'official' way's and royalties are still being payed to the writer...)
I love my e-reader but sometimes it irritated the hell out of me that they make it so hard for me to buy certain book! Just because I live in a different country. I sort of understand but I think it's ridiculous in this digital/global era!

I loved that book! It is a shame that there are country restrictions on ebooks. I don't know what difference it makes.

I've been reading Molotov's Magic Lantern: A Journey in Russian History- the author found a library that used to belong to Stalin's right hand man, Molotov- and she's using the library to take a leisurely trip through Russia, and Russian history. I've never studied Russian Literature, and find myself noting the names and then tracking them down and reading their stories or poems- it's like a really great way to take a survey course!
And she deals with the cognitive dissonance of the man who sent thousands of writers to the Gulag hording their books- creepy. I first heard of Molotov because I saw a photocopy of the original execution order for the Polish Officers killed at Katyn Forest- and he was one of the signatories.
