Nordic Noir discussion

So, I grabbed a book from the library today called Where the Shadows Lie. It is set in Iceland with all those Icelandic characters and it is the first in the new series...However, the author lives in London. His previous books are all set in London's financial district...so is it Nordic Noir, Not Nordic Noir or is the author just jumping on a really popular genre? Why/why not...

Is the style similar to that of the Nordic noir writers?
If he writes like Agatha Christie or some other Brit, then not. If it has the feel of Nordicness, then I say yes. And if unsure, it'll be interesting to see what the others who have read the same book think. Does it feel Nordic or not?

I'll let you know more when I get into it.

I really liked it, but I don't think it's Noir enough... and the main character is American. I have bought the second in the series, too, but haven't read it yet.

Did you read it yet, Naomi? I'm hoping to get on to 66 Degrees North next month; I think it's light enough to read during NaNo....

Sounds good! It's Nordic and crime-based, so I reckon we can probably get away with reading it here ;)

Oh no :( that's crazy. Any idea when it's coming out over there??

I can't determine..it looks like it has been out for a bit. I plan on asking my librarian if she can figure it out.
