Well, sometimes we get trick-or-treaters. Like, maybe one or two groups a year.
I went trick or treating with some friends one year. There is one street which specifically sets up for Halloween, and everyone is ready with lollies and things, but its certainly no where near the scale you'd have in America.

message 7: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments How sad. I love Halloween. It's a chance to dress up and make fun of yourself without people laughing at you. On Halloween at our school, it's the people who don/t dress up that look weird.

Both of my parents dislike Halloween and wouldn't let my sister go trick or treating with her friends last year because it is American or something like that. She was only like eleven at the time though. I've never done anything for Halloween but I want to. I think it would be fun and it is a chance to dress up. I don't want to go trick or treating because I don't think many people really do that here and I am probably a bit old to do that but I want to have a costume party with my friends or something or next year for my birthday if I can't this year.

message 11: by Meri Kate (new)

Meri Kate (booksandsunshine) I love love love Halloween. I have no clue what I am going to be this year though. So many ideas!

natalie | 5047 comments I love Halloween :)

message 13: by Frank (new)

Frank I've lost interest in Halloween. When I was a little kid it was the best. Got to dress up, get tons of candy, and see who could have the most realistic costume. Now, people come to the door in a sweat-shirt and jeans and expect us to give them candy we spent our money on. No thanks.

Generally I stay inside now, and would much rather watch a Charlie Brown special about Halloween than actually participate in it myself. :D

message 14: by Will (last edited Sep 22, 2011 02:42PM) (new)

Will Todd I'm a member of the baby boom generation that turned Halloween into the commercial extravaganza it is today...

...and I love it!

I don't dress up that often anymore (the last time I did, I went to a party as Austin Powers - yep, it was THAT long ago), but if I ever do again, it would be as Captain Jack Sparrow...

...which would, of course, horrify my nieces...

...whom I get to at least accompany on their rounds.

Good enough for me!

Todd

kathrine (scarlettshea) | 391 comments An idea for a costume is Katniss Everdeen, if you have read the hunger games!!!!

message 16: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Well, if I were going as Katniss...

I'd wear brown, kind of tattered leggings or close fitting pants.
I'd wear a dark colour, kind of old and raggy shirt that is also kind of long and baggy. I'd put my hair in a simple braid down the back and I'd find a bow. It doesn't have to be fancy, it can be plastic or made of a stick and some twine, but definitely a bow. If you can find a pin with a bird on it, then you are all set to go!
Oh, and rub some dirt and mud on your face.

kathrine (scarlettshea) | 391 comments That's cool!

message 27: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments My friend wants me to be a bride, with her and one other friend as bridesmaids, because she has this wedding dress from one of her grandmother's friends that fits me perfectly (we were playing dress up with her cousin), but I can't move my arms in it, so it might be a problem. Plus the other friend is being where's Waldo, so there would be a problem there. So I have no idea what I'm doing

message 28: by Annie (new)

Annie (annieiscool13) | 562 comments Haha, I am probably not going to be dressing up because last year I bought a really cute, but expensive ragdoll costume and I ended up completely ruining it.. so my parents won't buy me a costume and I don't have the time to actually make a costume.

message 29: by Bethany Rose (last edited Oct 07, 2011 08:47AM) (new)

That would be amazing! One year my whole class dressed up as different Smurfs. Group costumes are always impressive.

I have a big box at the top of my closet for all my costume stuff. When ever I find something cute and that would be good for a costume it throw it in there. Then a week or so before Halloween I pull out the box and put something together.

I think I'll do a black and silver Supergirl this year. I just need some silver gauntlets. Trip to the craft store anyone?

message 44: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments That sounds pretty sweet. I can't go trick-or-treating this year. :( I've got choir practice that night and I can't miss that. But my church is having a dinner on the 30th and you're encouraged to dress up. I think I might get some green face paint and be The Wicked Witch of the West again this year. It's an easy enough costume and I don't have a whole lot of to that I can put into it.
