rose (rose33) Do you guys like the movie?
I hated how they made the characters, and did not follow the plot line WHAT SO EVA! Plus. Annabeth is blonde. And I loved that about her.

message 2: by asiyah (new)

asiyah Yeah, it wasn't that bad, but it definitely could have been much better. The thing that bugged me the most was how they changed their ages JUST to 16 because Harry Potter was 16 and they thought that was the way to get people outside the fandom to watch the movie. Of course, now people apart of the fandom are on the fence about watching the next one. I'm not sure.

message 3: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam_ekberg) lol.
my friend made a comment on the movie after she saw it. she said "it's almost like they didnt think a blonde actor could pull off being a smart girl like annabeth. apparently they, in the movie world, are still saying blondes are stupid."

message 4: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) I think that's stupid. Not all blonde's are stupid it's a terrible stereotype. The chick could have died her hair blonde. But NOOO.

message 5: by asiyah (new)

asiyah Yeah, the cast of the Hunger Games have dyed their hair for their parts.

message 6: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) Exactly! LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES!

message 7: by asiyah (new)

asiyah ME TOO! THEY BETTER MAKE THE MOVIES THE RIGHT WAY!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

My sister won't let me read the Hunger Games. But I really want to. And the girl they picked to be Katniss is really pretty... but I don't know if it looks like book Katniss.

message 9: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) it does sorta. Except in the book, she has super long, really pretty hair.
Why won't she let you read the Hunger games?

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Says the themes are too dark. But I know what it's about, who wins, the character's names, the whole wolf deal, the poisonous berries, the plotline, the past, and even what happens in Mockingjay.

message 11: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) Well the books really good.. I think you should read it despite what she says because it's a lot different reading it then hearing about it.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I know... and the thing is, the book's HERS and my mom won't let me read it either because of what my sister says. And I would never lie to my mom like that. I'd be fine if it was just my sister, but I wouldn't lie to my mom.

And now I'm the eighth-grade loser because like all my classmates are reading it, except me.

message 13: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) Maybe you could borrow it from a friend then? And ask your mom if that's okay, since your sister won't have a say.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

But my mom says I can't read it because my sister says it's "dark."

message 15: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) Ohhh, then your sisters just mean.

message 16: by HC (new)

HC | 54 comments i didnt like the PJ movie and i also didnt like the first two hunger games books. i agree with your sister when she says its dark, but its too dark for 6th graders but definetly NOT an 8th grader

message 17: by asiyah (new)

asiyah Yeah, Katniss is pretty, she doesn't try to be or think she is.

I know how you feel. When I was in fifth grade, the first Twilight movie was coming out and all anyone talked about was Twilight, the movie, and the actors. My sister owned the series and wouldn't let me read it.And she talked about it too. I didn't really like Twilight either because I thought vampires were stupid. I felt like an idiot when I didn't know what the heck anyone was talking about and couldn't participate in any of the discussions. To make it worse, my friend loved it and thought I stupid for liking Harry Potter and would insult it, so I had to be fake and say that I liked Twilight. During recess, she would read it and I would sit there reading over her shoulder like an idiot. Then movie finally came out and all anyone talked about was the movie and I was the loser who wasn't cool because she hadn't watched it.

Luckily, it only lasted for a few months. I got over faking like for Twilight. Now, that same friend has calmed down and read Harry Potter and LOVES it. She hates it when I bring up her past. So it's okay, you'll read Hunger Games eventually. Just keep in mind that I love you now because I know how you feel and you aren't uncool!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, but it's not like I think it's overrated or anything, I genuinely think it sounds interesting. I really want to read it. It just looks and sounds so interesting... I think I'm getting my mom to let me read it. I'm forcing my sister to explain it all to her and I think she'll let me read it.

I wish you the best of luck!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah! And so at dinner, I brought it up and she made my sister explain all of iit and it didn't seem like she thought the concept was innapropriate for me.

message 21: by asiyah (new)

message 29: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam_ekberg) my parents honestly dont care what i read, except the time when my mom read the back of Unwind and was a little grossed out, but i told her it wasnt that nasty or anything, but she just looked at me funny

message 30: by asiyah (new)

asiyah What's Unwind about?

message 31: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam_ekberg) basically another world war happened, and what happened was from the ages of 13-18, parents can choose to have their kids "unwound", meaning they get taken apart and used on other people, so technically they dont die. its about some kids who are on the run from getting unwound. its not gory or anything like that, not even gross. its a really good book.

message 32: by asiyah (new)

asiyah Oh. I think I'll look it up...

message 33: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam_ekberg) ok

message 34: by asiyah (new)

asiyah It sounds good. I marked it as to-read.

message 35: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam_ekberg) cool!

message 36: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) I also marked it To read:)

message 37: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam_ekberg) lol

message 38: by asiyah (new)

asiyah I KNOW! Just because you need viewers other than the fanbase does NOT mean you are allowed to change the ages to 16 JUST because Harry Potter was 16. Grrrr...

message 39: by HC (new)

HC | 54 comments i agree!!!! it could have been a good movie if it wasnt supposed to be percy jackson!!! they messed it up

message 40: by asiyah (new)

asiyah They did.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I mean, Harry Potter was ELEVEN! I'm sure they could've managed TWELVE or at least thirteen!

message 42: by asiyah (new)

asiyah I know!

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

OH MY GODS, I THINK MY MOM'S GOING TO LET ME READ THE HUNGER GAMES!!! I FINALLY WIN!!!!!!!

message 44: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. And just to say I read it...

WASH YOUR MOUTH/KEY BOARD OUT!
lol, jk jk. But I completely loved the book:)

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Everyone can have their own opinion, and I can respect that as long as they can respect mine. But the problem is, I can't form an opinion if I can't read them!

message 49: by rose (new)

rose (rose33) I Respect her opinion! I was only joking:)

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, I know, I was just saying...
