Amazon proofread another book of mine. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about that - but now I'm impressed. Updates to books will take longer to process (see below). I think this service will improve the quality of kindle books and it is an added benefit to kindle authors. And I applaud them! It's my understanding the publisher will be contacted and notified of any edits that need to be made.
"... This will not affect any titles you are currently selling in the store, but uploading updates to existing titles will take longer to process."
I sent an e-mail to amazon support and asked questions about the new service. Below is the reply:
Hello Peggy,
Thank you for writing back to us.
1. When an author/publisher is notified via email or has been requested to make corrections to their Kindle content, there is no required turn around time for the author/publisher to respond to our correction request. If the title is required to be unpublished, the title is removed from sale to avoid bad reviews towards the Kindle title for the benefit of the author/publisher.
2. When your revised content is submitted and your Kindle title is re-published, it goes through the review process. Once your title completes the review process, it is published successfully on the web site. If the title is published and moves to the "Live" status on the KDP BookShelf, it means the changes have been approved and published.
3. If the title has been unpublished and is being published with the revised content, the title is available for sale only when it moves to the "Live" status on the KDP BookShelf. If the title has been updated with the revised content, the revised content is available for sale on the web site once the title moves to the "Live" status. However, the older content is available for sale on the web site, while the title is being updated with the revised content.
4. If the book required further corrections and our review team finds the title requires corrections, we'll notify you regarding the same.
I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for using Kindle Direct Publishing.
