I just saw that Amazon released a color and touchscreen ereader called Kindle Fire for $199 available in mid-November. Does anyone know if you can use it outside of the US/Canada?

Morons that's all I can say Auntee :-/ Thanks for that link. Why in the world would they make it US only when the regular Kindle can be used outside of the US???! I wonder if it's like the Nook though where you can't even download stuff outside the US (totally idiotic). Looks like Apple is going to be making more money off me in the end....

Auntee | 494 comments You know as soon as you buy that expensive iPad, THAT'S when the Kindle Fire will become available...:)

Wendy (wendyfraser65) | 6 comments Exactly, Auntee. Having said that, after months of to-ing and fro-ing, trying ereaders vs ipads and a lot of investigating, I have bought myself a galaxy android tablet. I love it! But I still like reading a physical book.

Wendy (wendyfraser65) | 6 comments You can buy the galaxy tablet in 2 sizes, 7" and 10.1 (same as ipad). I ended upt with the 10.1 because the 7" wasn't available here in NZ. East, you really have to decideon a couple of things 1. Do you want a device that is multi-functional or do you just want an ereader. 2. If you want just an ereader, you need to check some out at your local store, cos they all feel and look different. Kindles were cheap over here, but they are (so far), no good for takimg out ebooks from the library. Te nicest ones I tried were thea Kobo touch and the sony touch.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in and asking you to elaborate on your comment about the Kobo touch...I have a Kobo and like it for the ePub reasons, but the things I don't like about it are:
1. the library utility (sucks with limited sorting functions)
2. the absence of a highlighting function I compare this function to putting a tab on a passage in a book I want to return and re-read or make note of etc.
3.The dictionary is limited with many words "not found".

Do you know if the Kobo touch has improved on any of these functions? Thanks SW

Wendy (wendyfraser65) | 6 comments Sorry Steamy, I don't know those details. There are a few reviews on youtube (which is where I go to check out how to work things!). Hope you find what you'relooking for. I have heard that there is a kobo colour either out or due to come out. Ichose an android cos I can (and have) downloaded different ereader options to see which formats I prefer.
