Any Suggestions or Recommendations for any of the challenges? Or anyone need a Suggestion or Recommendation?

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments One thing leads to another, tasks 2 - 4 has me pulling faces and shaking a fist at Lauren F. :P

But I have a suggestion : Darren Shan wrote a series called "Cirque Du Freak" where the lead character is also called Darren Shan. So for the first four tasks, reading 4 books from that series might work. Don't know if it's fair to read them for task 5 and 6 as well. Too bad I don't want to read them again.

Anyone know a good meg or melissa character?

message 7: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith The only thing that comes to mind for Meg is Little Women. Will let you know if I think of anything else.

Chrizette | 906 comments Could Melissa not be an author name?

message 9: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I think Lu has authors named Melissa and Meg, which is why she's now looking for characters.

message 10: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette | 906 comments I see - sorry :)

This challenge is looking more and more intriquing . . . maybe I will join too :)

* or

message 14: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Oh! Lol :) Only Cassandra that comes to mind is the one from Greek mythology.

Maybe take a look at the A-Z character challenge and see if anything useful crops up.

The only Cassandra character I know of in a book is pelled Kassandra and that is in The Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley and that is the one from ancient Greek mythology. Does it have to be spelled exactly the same since we know in some cases that it is the same name only Kassandra is the Greek spelling and Cassandra the Roman/European spelling.

Hi guys I need urgent help please!

What mode of transport do these main characters use?
(for those who have read the books)

* Fallen
* City of Bones

Ok, that's a really weird one. How much does a character need to use a specific mode of transport for it to count for this? Almost any character is going to walk or run - does that count? Because then you can use virtually any book.

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I'll check with Lauren and let you guys know.

I'm also a bit puzzled by it. But I think it's more for the odd transport, like if its a witch and she uses a broom the next one should be too.

Will get back to this :)

Cat Hellisen (clhellisen) City of Bones - the MC is flown around on a vampire's motorbike. But mostly they use the subway.

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Ok so motorbike and subway
Thanks!

Lauren Smith For the YA challenge - any suggestions for the tasks involving immortals and paranormal YA? No romance please.

Also, what defines paranormal? Would a YA ghost story count?

If you don't have book suggestions for immortals, I'd also appreciate suggestions for immortal creatures, as demons, angels and vampires have been ruled out, and the only other relatively common theme I can think of is gods.

message 23: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Yea a YA ghost story counts :)

I am reading a series about immortals Evermore, doubt you would like it tho. Only immortals I can think off :)

message 24: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hmm, yeah, that looks like a romance novel :(

I noticed that immortals seem to have become popular in YA lately. Why are they immortal though? Are we talking Highlander here?

message 25: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
They are immortal because of Alchemy

message 26: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Like a fantasy or science-fantasy version of the cure for aging?

message 27: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Fantasy, really not something you would like

Lauren Smith For those looking for an LGBT YA novel, there are quite a few mentioned in this article, which gives a brief history of the genre: http://www.malindalo.com/2012/06/from...
