Post your favorite authors here!

Adriana Love J.k Rowling. I wish she would do more books.
Rick is amazing!
Robert Cormier Genius!
Can't really say Suzanne Collins because I've only read three of her books. Loved them though.

I have to read the skinjacker series, I hear they're really good.

message 7: by Adriana (new)

Adriana YES THEY ARE!!! Wow. I've never met someone who actually knew about them.

I haven't read the last book that came out.

Unwind is great too.

I heard about it from a group specially for the series. Not sure if it's still there. I know that someone made a group about it, though.

message 9: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Huh. A group on one book? Well it will be a series... Interesting.

Wait. Which series are you talking about?

message 10: by Crowleaf (new)

Skinjacker

message 12: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh cool. Thanks! I'm not really a role player type though.

Ok. That's just where I found it out.

message 14: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) E.B. White is my all-time favorite writer. Close behind him are Barbara Park (author of Mick Harte Was Here), Jerry Spinelli (author of Maniac Magee, Stargirl, etc.) and Jacqueline Woodson (author of If You Come Softly and After Tupac and D Foster).

Josiah! I like all of those, except I've never heard of Jacqueline Woodson!

message 16: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I actually never read any of E.B. White's books. That's sad. There fantastic.

Never got into Junie B. Jones but it's not too late to start. (:

Jerry Spinelli!!!

Woodson I've heard of but never read any of her books. What do you recommend?

message 17: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) As much as I like her stories about Junie B. Jones, it's really Barbara Park's stand-alone books that won me over as a fan. The Kid in the Red Jacket, Don't Make Me Smile, My Mother Got Married (and Other Disasters) and Almost Starring Skinnybones are my very favorites, other than Mick Harte Was Here.

The best Jacqueline Woodson books that I've read are If You Come Softly and I Hadn't Meant to Tell You This, and Feathers is also terrific. I've liked everything of Jacqueline Woodson's that I've read.

message 18: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Also, there's really no one quite like Robert Cormier. He has written some of the most powerful books I've ever read, especially The Rag and Bone Shop and I Am the Cheese.

message 19: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Hmm. Thanks! I've wanted to read Feathers for awhile.

I didn't really know her outside of Junie B. Jones. I didn't realize she wrote so many other books. Are they childrens too?

message 20: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Oh yes, they all are. Most are still in print, too, though a few aren't. I really miss Barbara Park's novels; since 1995 she has only come out with two new ones, Mick Harte Was Here and The Graduation of Jake Moon. I would love to see her start writing more again, as she did in the past.

message 21: by Adriana (new)

Adriana The Graduation of Jake Moon sounds deep.

message 22: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Barbara Park has said that the most difficult books she has ever written were Mick Harte Was Here and The Graduation of Jake Moon, because it took so long for her to perfectly strike a delicate balance between the humor and sadness. I've yet to read The Graduation of Jake Moon, but I've heard great things about it.

message 23: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I read a lot of books like that. Humor and sadness. Well mostly sadness.

message 25: by Ivyscar ~Echo~ (new)

Ivyscar ~Echo~ (EREakins) | 28 comments ok this might take a while...

Erin Hunter
James Patterson
J.K. Rowling
Kathryn Lasky
C.S. Lewis
Christopher Paolini
E.R. Eakins
Susanne Collins
Rick Riordan
John Flemming
John Flanagan
Tom Clansey

That's all I can think of for now. I'll keep thinking though.

message 26: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Haven't heard of a bunch of those. What has E.R. Eakens done?

message 27: by Ivyscar ~Echo~ (new)

Ivyscar ~Echo~ (EREakins) | 28 comments ummmm teehee well it isnt actually published yet....but theyre a book series called Part Of Each Other. And er....E.R. Eakins is er... me XD

message 28: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Haha! Well, I guess you should put yourself there because if you aren't confident with your work it won't be as great. (:

message 29: by Ivyscar ~Echo~ (new)

Ivyscar ~Echo~ (EREakins) | 28 comments Haha yep. Totally true!

message 30: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Have you actually written a book?

message 31: by Ivyscar ~Echo~ (new)

Ivyscar ~Echo~ (EREakins) | 28 comments Yeah a whole series. And now I'm writing the second series to the collection and I'm on the 8th, the last book.

message 32: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Wow, good for you! Have you thought about publishing them yet?

message 33: by Ivyscar ~Echo~ (new)

Ivyscar ~Echo~ (EREakins) | 28 comments I have but I don't know any publishers...

message 34: by Adriana (new)

Adriana What do you mean? You haven't been able to contact anyone?

message 35: by Ivyscar ~Echo~ (new)

Ivyscar ~Echo~ (EREakins) | 28 comments No, I just don't know who I should send my stories to. Know of anyone?

message 36: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Not anyone in particular. If you are looking for a small publisher that's different but if not look at your books and check out who they were published by to get an idea who you want to help you publish your books. I think... you can publish your book yourself. Not completely sure.

message 37: by Ivyscar ~Echo~ (new)

Ivyscar ~Echo~ (EREakins) | 28 comments Ok. My teacher told me that Amazon publishes books for kids, so I might try them.

message 38: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Cool (:

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Amazon is awesome!

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry, that ^ was random. :}

message 41: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Never really used it myself.

message 42: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Neal Shusterman is one of my favorite authors, especially for Unwind. I knew that he was working on a companion book to Unwind, tentatively planned to be titled Unwholly, but check out this Facebook post that Neal Shusterman made a few hours ago: "I just delivered my first draft of UnWholly, (the second book in the UNWIND trilogy) to Simon and Schuster! Time to celebrate!!!!" So it sounds as if there's going to be a third book, too! Truly it is time to celebrate!

message 43: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Stop teasing me Shusterman!!!

Have you read anything else by him?

message 44: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I've read and been wowed by several of Neal Shusterman's other books, including Everlost, Downsiders, Bruiser, Darkness Creeping and, most recently, Dread Locks. Unwind was definitely the greatest of them all, but Bruiser was a stunner, as well. I really think that it deserved a Newbery Honor for 2011.

message 45: by Adriana (last edited Oct 13, 2011 08:06PM) (new)

Adriana Haven't read two of those. Have you read the rest of the Everlost Trilogy?

message 46: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Not yet. I plan on reading Everwild sometime in November, most likely, and then Everfound during the first quarter of the new year.

message 47: by Adriana (new)

Adriana It's a good sequel to it. Haven't read Everfound yet.

Downsiders is supposed to be good but I haven't read it yet. Full Tilt is a really good and The Schwa Was Here (Antsy Bonano) is an entertaining read as well.
