Okay just for kicks I put in Miranda's mom's winnings in 1975 and the value of them today would be $52,788.78. That is a decent chunk of change! I was so happy her celeb wasn't as dumb as a box of hair. The whole reason Sal was punched was due to Marcus trying to listen to his brother. What happened to the brother? I know, I know not important...

I'm giving this book to my two teen sons to read. I think they will really enjoy it. I got so caught up in this book. It made me remember how I felt at that age, I was always looking for something magical to believe in. I think that's why I enjoyed "A Wrinkle in Time" so much. I can not wait to read that again, it's been so long.
This book kept me guessing, I thought everything had some hidden meaning and all I had to do was figure it out. Like Sal getting punched in the stomach, which really didn't mean anything at all but had to happen for the rest of the story to happen. I liked how the book confused me but intrigued me at the same time. This book ended too soon, I could have read more. But it did do a nice job of tying up the loose ends. The things that didn't make any sense suddenly did. Although, I have to wonder, what would have happened if Miranda had not given her letter to Marcus?
