Noeleen These are some books I read last month that I would recommend

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society

When God Was A Rabbit
A Place of Execution

Jeshu (jeshusauria) I agree with Harry Potter! And I'll add The lord of the rings :)

Lisa James (sthwnd) Ok, since I think EVERYONE should read classics in order to appreciate the works of those who have gone before, I'm going to recommend:

Animal Farm
Of Mice & Men
The Pit & The Pendulum(or anything by Poe)
The Old Man & The Sea(or: To Have & Have Not)
Lord of the Flies

These are all "short reads" mostly, & WELL worth it. For those into paranormal stuff, take a step back in time with these classic, genre introducing recommendations:

Dracula by Bram Stoker
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde by Stevenson

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) I have been enjoying Steven James's Bower's Files series. Good reads and they even have a nice message in them.

The Pawn (The Patrick Bowers Files, #1) by Steven James The Rook (The Patrick Bowers Files, #2) by Steven James The Knight (The Patrick Bowers Files, #3) by Steven James The Bishop (The Patrick Bowers Files, #4) by Steven James The Queen A Patrick Bowers Thriller (The Bowers Files) by Steven James

Really fun books Suspense thrillers.

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) I've really enjoyed them. Scary serial killer, and healing theme in there too boot. Availible in Kindle format. Good reads. Definately

I own over 300 books and am always buying more, so it would be bad if I didn't reread them once in a while (besides, give me a year or two and I won't remember the ending anyway)

message 12: by Rachel (new)

Rachel The Book Thief was definitely amazing.

Lord of the Flies
Catcher in the Rye
Perks of Being a Wallflower
Perfume
Lord of the Rings
Looking for Alaska
Love Medicine
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

for now...

Lisa James (sthwnd) The Book Thief was an incredible book. I read that one too a few months back. Read Lord of the Flies last week, that was good, but not outstanding for me, even though it's a classic :) LOTR/Hobbit I would recommend as a complete set. One compliments the other.

I just got done with In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. That was amazing too, & I would highly recommend it, especially since it's a true story. It'll give you chills, make you mad & make you sad all at the same time.

message 14: by Jeshu (new)

Jeshu (jeshusauria) The Book Thief is the only book that has made me cry a river :( It's beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

I'd like to recommend Dostoievski's Crime and Punishment. It might be long and heavy literature, but it's awesome.
