I finished reading this book. In this section, the main character, Mary has her first encounter with a young Native American boy. She sneaks out of her home on several occasions in order to spend time with the boy. Later in the story, word gets out that Mary is in the woods alone. The town then begins to talk and say that she is a witch. The Reverend has a man come and identify a witch out of a group of young girls. Mary is in that group. The man says that she is a witch. She runs away. The story ends here. The author then writes that there were more letters found written in a different hand. The letters are in a section of their own. The very last page says that historians are still trying to find out about this girls life and gives an email address that you can send information regarding Mary. There is a fictionalized sequel of the rest of Mary's life also written by Celia Rees.
