From Amazon:

Monsters: An Investigator's Guide to Magical Beings

Columbine

Skippy Dies

Huh. Listed in that order, it looks like a tasteless free-form poem.

I also have books coming from bookswap -- apparently the last I'll be getting (insert sad face here) -- which I'll post as they arrive.

message 41: by Chris (new)

Chris Well I went a little buying crazy. In my defense, all of the books I bought seem to have to be included in any good military history personal library. At least that's what I'm telling myself to justify it lol. I got two off of the Goodreads Bookswap, and the rest off of Amazon's used sellers for a total of $42 (about $5.25 each so not bad).

The Longest Day The Classic Epic of D-Day by Cornelius Ryan A Bridge Too Far The Classic History of the Greatest Battle of World War II by Cornelius Ryan Last Battle The Classic History of the Battle for Berlin by Cornelius Ryan An Army at Dawn The War in Africa, 1942-1943 by Rick Atkinson The Day of Battle The War in Sicily and Italy, 1943-1944 by Rick Atkinson Band of Brothers E Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne from Normandy to Hitler's Eagle's Nest by Stephen E. Ambrose D Day June 6, 1944 The Climactic Battle of World War II by Stephen E. Ambrose Citizen Soldiers The U. S. Army from the Normandy Beaches to the Bulge to the Surrender of Germany by Stephen E. Ambrose

Now if only I could read as fast as I buy...

message 48: by Chris (new)

Chris I AM NOW OFFICIALLY ON A BOOK-BUYING BAN FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!!!!!! *excluding books bought as presents for others. I went a little crazy just now so this is my much-deserved punishment. But here's what I got

Currahee! A Screaming Eagle at Normandy by Donald R. Burgett Seven Roads to Hell A Screaming Eagle at Bastogne by Donald R. Burgett The Road to Arnhem A Screaming Eagle in Holland (World War II Library) by Donald R. Burgett Beyond the Rhine A Screaming Eagle in Germany by Donald R. Burgett
Thunder Run The Armored Strike to Capture Baghdad by David Zucchino Warrior Police Rolling with America's Military Police in the World's Trouble Spots by Gordon Cucullu Immediate Response by Mark Hammond The Rape of Nanking The Forgotten Holocaust of World War II by Iris Chang

All of them I got for cheap, except for Warrior Police. I bit the bullet on that one because I actually have a good reason to not wait around for it to become cheap. I was really drawn to the 4 Burgett books because they have some amazing reviews and I wanted some short, quick reads. By the way, I got Thunder Run for a whopping $3.17 :)

Now my ban for the rest of the year has commenced. If it's not in my personal library already, then that's just too bad. Amazon and I are going on a break. I need to figure out how to put "parental controls" on the Amazon website so I can't go to it at all lol

message 49: by Joy (last edited Oct 19, 2011 05:10PM) (new)

Joy I got Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #1) by Joanne Fluke Strawberry Shortcake Murder (Hannah Swensen Series #2) by Joanne Fluke Dead and Berried (Gray Whale Inn Mystery, #2) by Karen MacInerney A Brisket, a Casket (A Deadly Deli Mystery, #1) by Delia Rosen The Help by Kathryn Stockett and The Millionaire's Nanny by Carol Grace for my Kindle and I ordered Murder is Binding (A Booktown Mystery, #1) by Lorna Barrett in paperback. Time to go on a Book Buying Ban until next year! But I know my hubby will buy me books for my birthday next month, and possibly for Christmas too.

Oh yeah and I won't even add the ten freebies I added for my Kindle as well! =/
