I'm trying to teach myself to knit but am not having much luck.
Spinning is the art of making thread/yarn and you can use a spindle or a spinning wheel, I'm teaching myself to use a drop spindle and really like it, I was hoping someone here spun and could tell me something about making art yarn, something like this http://img0.etsystatic.com/il_fullxfu...
would be so interesting to make.

I actually took a spinning class and we did that yarn. But I did it on a wheel. If I remember correctly, we plied our spun yarn with a stretchy nylon making sure that you slightly stretch the nylon while plying.
Also for learning to knit, try the knittinghelp.com videos.
Thanks Sara!
I may have to look into a spinning class and I will certainly be using knittinghelp (probably tonight if this silly thing keeps tangling)

I made this over the past couple of days. It's a shoulder bag with a pocket for my Kindle, and I also made a wallet, cosmetic bag, and glasses case to match.
I just had to share this heartwarming thread from Ravelry (where we are celebrating our 2,000,000th member!) Love how many people took the time to try to help out.
