No mention of ghosts or anything supernatural through 500 agonizing, unnecessary pages of school projects, part-time jobs, shopping, and Oh No A Secret Boyfriend!? only to end with "EVERYONE WAS DEAD THE WHOLE TIME TUNE IN FOR THE SEQUEL!" No. No I won't, thanks.

If it's a surprise and I'm sure it counts as one, it's not the result of literary mastery, it's the fact that the author somehow forgot she was writing in a freaking ghost.
It isn't good writing to say, "oh, he's only a ghost when it's convenient" and apparently snickerdoodles supercede the eternal misery of undeath evertlasting?
Like, the whole CONFLICT is that he's a freakin ghost, but half the time he isn't even beholden to the repercussions of being a ghost!
ALSO if he's a gosh-darned ghost how come he had his doofy ghost hair from his life?

That would be great, if there were anything in the first book that made me want to continue on to the second. As it is, I was bored, confused, and frustrated.
I actually wasn't that surprised - firstly, the blurb gave it away (the "questioning her sanity" thing? A dead giveaway) then the way he wouldn't touch Abbey (except on his death day) made me suspicious, too.
Many loose threads are explained in the second book, and I loved the third. But it wasn't until I have reread the first book that I started liking it. At first I thought it was boring, too ;)

Ellie wrote: "i knew something was definetly up with Caspian, but a ghost?? That gave me something to wrap my head around. At first I thought that Caspian was hiding his true first name and was actually D. from K..."
Wow, that would have been creepy!

Haha that's funny to me.

Ohhhhhhh so that's why haha. I get it.
Well, technically he can eat cookies but he says in the second book that he does not enjoy the taste of them because they taste like ashes.
But it is weird that he can pick up a pencil but can't touch people.

nickolas can touch her because he has his other half

i agree with you"
i agree as well

pfftt.. cheater XD

Ohhhhh duhhhhhh

Totally knew it. This book was terrible.

Not that he was a ghost."
But thing is that he does not really eat the cookies, he saved them.

i know right? He was acting so suspicious .... i knew something was going on... but i wasn't counting on him being a ghost... i was like seriously? how could they not have touched at all until their first kiss? Not even by accident when they were sitting under the tree or something? how does that work?

Sorry for spoiling! but don't worry there are plenty of surprises to look forwward to in the second and third books!!!
