Margaret Morals. We all know the word. But do we truly know their meaning? What is right and wrong? What is evil? Is there specific truth? Is anything a lie?

Here we can share our thoughts on this subject that we previously thought was our imagination overacting.

message 2: by Court (new)

Court how'd seth cheat?!?!??!

message 3: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Hmmmmm...

you know that feeling you get when you do something good? Like donate to charity? Give a child a home, etc. etc.?
That's moral. That's stuff that's good.
Stuff that's not good is something that hurts another human being.

Court wow..

message 6: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ I don't really believe that there's such a thing as good and evil. that is, no person can really be defined as either "good" or "evil". you can be totally good are totally evil ... like you might think somebody's evil, but in their mind they are doing the right thing. idk. it's confusing ...

message 19: by Matty (new)

Matty | 17 comments Most people say that it is moral to be a generally selfless person. But I ask you, is it possible to perform any selfless act? Do we do everything out of self-interest? For example, donating to the poor might seem selfless, but one might argue that you're just doing it to make yourself feel good.

I don't claim to be either side of the arguement, I'm just curious as to what you guys think. We're discussing this in my philosophy class.

message 20: by Maimuna (new)

Maimuna | 28 comments well.....................sometimes people don't really do it for themselves sometimes they do it beacuse they think it's the right thing to do not something they have to do to feel good or anything like that.

message 21: by Maimuna (new)

Maimuna | 28 comments i agree with you about the whole gay marraige thing

message 25: by Eric▲ (new)

Eric▲ | 716 comments kind of like what riley said, exept in my opinion, if you don't feel good, it probably isn't moral.
i think ALL morrals are outlined in the Bible.
it says cursing is bad.

i also think that ETHICS are different from morrals

message 26: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments morals...

lol

message 32: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) I think it is against almost everyone's morals, chandani.

YAY! SOMETHING WE CAN AGREE ON!

message 33: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments yay that's basically what i mean

i mean like there are so many props that im like, "no one should think more than a second before saying NO or YES to that one"

although i can understand some like Prop 8 because there ARE 2 sides

message 34: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments I HATE the Church's statement involving Proposition 8!!! It was: We support Gays, we just don't support Gay Marriages. HOW F'ED UP IS THAT?!?

I mean, even you Church people gotta admit that's about as dumb as it gets... He should at least admit that he doesn't support Gays if he is going to say anything at all. Why contradict himself? Alright, now that that's off my chest... Isn't it wonderful weather outside? It's snowing like mad here!

message 35: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments but the person who was saying no on it was retarded

"No matter what you think on gay marriage, vote No on Prop 8."

I mean, if im against gay marriage you're saying i have to still vote No?

B****! Don't tell me what to do!

message 36: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Hey! Kenny isn't a b****! He's a b******! jk jk!

message 37: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments " B**ch i dont know yo life!!"

Lol baby momma.

But Kennys really cool.

message 38: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Thank you Chandani (I learn from the best [that's you, girl:]) ! And I guess thanks Riley... I know you don't mean that Riley. As for you, Dianna, have I ever told you what to do? Just answer that!

Did I once tell you that you had to vote against Prop. 8? I don't think so! I just commented on the Church's statement, that so obviously contradicted the speaker and the Church's beliefs! I mean, they can't even come right out and say that they are against Gays. They are to cowardly to come right out and suffer the consequences of their choices!

The people that said to vote NO on prop. 8 never said any of the things that you listed below! They said much of which I state on most of my posts: America is about choices! Shouldn't the Gays have the choice to get married? Why shouldn't they? Tell me, Dianna, why shouldn't they? And don't give me any "GOD said it was wrong" crap... You're not God. Tell me why YOU think that Gays shouldn't be married.

message 39: by Lela (new)

Lela | 167 comments "I mean, even you Church people gotta admit that's about as dumb as it gets... He should at least admit that he doesn't support Gays if he is going to say anything at all. Why contradict himself?"

They mean that they support gays as PEOPLE, they just don't support the choice. It's like if you're mom was doing drugs, you'd still love her you just wouldn't love her choices. See? That's not a contradiction.

[I am seriously not saying that being gay is the same as drugs i just was comparing:]

message 40: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Wow, actually a really good comparison there. that is one of the first good one's I've seen for how christians feel about certain subjects. I think that describes the feeling exactly.

Although, maybe I shouldn't speak for a group I'm not part of. I have just gotten what you are saying all along, and I'm good with understanding certain situations and emotions.

message 41: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Ahhh, but that's not the case. They dislike Gays in general, seeing as they are sinners. They don't want to associate with someone they believe is going to Hell. If anything said before now was true, it's nothing compared to what is next: Mormons just CAN'T get along w/ gays! They are raised (brainwashed) into believing that Gay is bad, or sinfull, so they grow up in an Anti-Gay society. Like my GF has a friend that is mormon, and they can't really have a relationship until the age of eighteen, so everytime she sees us kissing or something, she shakes her head and makes a negative comment. You see? They just can't handle living in an environment filled with what they believe is wrong... That's like being a Catholic and living in a house of Devil-Praisers... It doesn't work out so well. Pretty soon you get unwillingly sacrificed for our main man downstairs. Not pretty, either... Not pretty at all.

message 42: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Yes, but that isn't ALL christianity. That is only a group of Christians who are more extreme.

And as far as the brainwashing... it is only made worse by schools brainwashing people to not think for themselves, to always obey the rules, and regurgitate information.

message 43: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments Um, Kenny i wasn't talking about you

i was talking about the lady on the commercial

sorry if you were confused...

message 44: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments and i don't know

for me, if gays acted a little more normal i wouldn't be so nervous about them

message 45: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) Wait, actual gay people, or the way the media portrays gay people? Because gay people DO act normal, as far as I know.

message 46: by Eric▲ (new)

Eric▲ | 716 comments o.k. you know what?
i am going to pray for all of you.

message 47: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments ok.

Can you tell him, that i really want an ipod for my birthday?

THANKS!

*no offense intended*

message 48: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Pray for me? Why? It's just a waste (I SWEAR that I don't think that ALL praying is a waste! Honest! No SARCASM intended!). I accept that I am going to Hell if there is a real God. That's just the meat of the matter...

message 49: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Sorry. That is probably considered offensive... Really sorry!

message 50: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments No i didnt think that it was offensive.

But that might just be cause were probably gunna be bunk mates in hell.

:D
