I made this thread because I love my kindle and I just found out about http://ebooksfortroops.org/ ! I am so excited to be able to donate my Kindle 3 3g to the troops!! Now I REALLY can't wait to get my new Kindle touch and Fire! =)
Hmm.. I love technology personally and I don't see how it runes it? I have been able to read more then I ever was before on my kindle! Books are usually cheaper and no shipping and now we have no book store or library close so if I did not have my kindle I would hardly get to read at all. =)
Not to mention with this ebooks for troops thing they get to read too! A lot of them don't have room for books and or not able to order them easily at all wherever they are so now they get to read whatever they want to also!

I can see some Nook/Kindle of the future trying to replicate the smell and pump out some book smell like a Glade plug-in. haha
I totally agree! I have a nook, which I absolutely LOVE because like Dierdra said, it's easier and cheaper to get books that way. It's also really helpful if you're reading a huge book, because it's easier to carry around. :) I do however still buy alot of my books in paper form also....because I feel like there just isn't anything that can replace the feel of a book in your hands. :)

Except I've got a Sony e-reader, which I'm very happy with as well. Though nothing beats an actual book in your hands and properly seeing the progress you make, I do very much love the e-reader. I actually only bought it because I'm moving countries for 5 months and seeing as I can only take 20-30 kg with me on the plane, bringing many books didn't seem like an option. But I've actually fallen much more in love with the e-reader than I would have thought. I'm very happy with it and can only recommend it, really. But I would never quit reading actual books.
I'm a passionate Kindle lover. I own two K3's and ordered the new Kindle Touch as soon as they announced it. I've owned Kindles for about 2 1/2 years and have not read a paper book since. I currently have about 450 books between my two Kindles, but I still keep looking at other books, it's an addiction. I love to dress up my Kindles with skins, cases, covers, purses.....anything Kindle related.I still love paper books and still own a lot of them, my house would seem empty without books. And I also still buy all of Stephen King's books in hardback, for my collection, but when I actually read them, it's on my Kindle.
I don't have a Kindle, but a Sony Reader Pocket edition. I love it!!! Firstly, because it's pink (and it was the only available colour in the store, what a coincidence XD). Secondly, because real books are extremely expensive in Chile. To put an example, a couple of months ago I wanted to buy The Hunger Games and it cost US$38!!! What the hell is that? In book depository can be bought at U$8!!!!Therefore, my sony reader is pure bliss and blessing for me. Ebooks are cheaper, therefore I can read more than I'd be able to if I didn't have it. Also, many books are hard to find in Spanish, so I can get them in English. It's a world full of benefits, rainbows and unlimited happinnes for a third-world girl like me :P

It's the best thing ever <3
I love Kindle. I've had at least one since Amazon announced their first. I don't think I've picked up a 'real' book in over three years.
At first I was standoff-ish about the Nook/Kindle. I only wanted to have "real" books. But then my best friend bought me a Nook for graduation and I LOVE this thing. It definitely hasn't stopped me from reading "real" books but it is easier sometimes than going to hte library or a bookstore if you don't live close to either. =]
So many people don't understand that reading on an ereader doesn't mean you don't like books, it only enhances the reading experience! I was one of the nay-sayers, my kids wanted to buy me a Kindle long before I actually got one and I always said no, I love "real" books, the feel, the smell etc. But once I got my first Kindle I was so totally hooked. I still love books and I do still buy paper books, but my reading is done on my Kindle.
