Yep, October, and that must mean that Christmas can't be far off. Geez! I'm not ready for that at all! I'm wondering if the remodeling will be finished by Christmas.
As Jaci said, we had a great time at the SD Book Festival. The speakers, for the most part, were great. One, Margaret Coel, I haven't read, but I want to. She said she was influenced by Tony Hillerman, and I loved his books! On our way to the dinner, we stopped at the Chubby Chipmonk. They have absolutely the best truffles I've ever tasted! I ate my first one today. :-) I'm pretty sure they ship. LOL! They make all hand dipped truffles.
It has been cold here the past couple of days. I even turned on the furnace! I decided it was the perfect weather for knitting. It's been a nice afternoon.

I just finished up two table runners, one is a gift and one is a Thanksgiving one for ME!!
I am doing four blocks from the Farmers Daughter Sampler book each week with a group of on-line ladies. I'm finishing up this week's four today.
Tomorrow I'm working on aprons. My local quilt shop supports Tie One On day and collects aprons to give to the Women's shelter here the day before Thanksgiving. For me, aprons are fun to make and I know they are going to a great place. The shop also collects Christmas stockings (those I've gotten all done) that go to the Foster Program here and they collect placemats for the Meals on Wheels program.
I'm finishing up reading Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans. Not my usual genre, but I must say it's pretty darn good.
I've got a couple of things to make for Christmas yet. This time of year is wonderful to work in the sewing room with the sun streaming in. I tend to listen to music not audio books. If the book is really good I just can't concetrate on my sewing.
Happy day to everyone. What are you up to?
It's starting to feel like fall in this part of the country. The prediction now is for snow on Tuesday. I don't know that I'm ready for snow, but it has to come sometime, I suppose!
The hardwood is now down in the living room and hallway. Glenn is in the process of cleaning/packing his study. That room has to be empty by Monday morning when Kris will start scraping the ceiling, texturing it, etc. Hopefully he'll get it all done, including laying the floor and installing the cabinets in a week.
While Kris is working on the room, Glenn is taking the router out so we'll be without internet for however long. I've decided to OD on the computer for the next day and a half. I have all kinds of plans for while we're without the service. Today I finished sewing down the "247" pieces of the wall hanging. Now I have to quilt it and then add the flower petals and crystals. I also have a scarf I'm knitting that's almost finished, so I can work on that. And if we're still without service when I finish all of that, I can always press and fold the fabric I got when Jaci and I went on our shop hop last month!
So, if you don't hear from me for a while, you'll know why. I am, BTW, still waiting to hear about Nancy's trip to Washington!

Fun happenings on your house Judy. If I lived closer I pop over and we could have lots of fun and never miss the computer.
It was fun to meet Nancy when she was here. What a terrific bunch of ladies. They all seemed to be having such a good time.
I went to a mini two hour class today at a quilt store about an hour from here. It was an easy table runner, they provided fabric kits for $10 and the cost of the class was only $7 which included the pattern. I picked out a beautiful fall fabric kit. It used the 60 degree triangle and if anyone is familiar with the Tri Recs ruler that was the look of the table runner. I'll finish it up tomorrow. I had such fun I signed up for the November and December class as well.
Isn't it getting dark early these days? I'm an early riser so I'll be glad when daylight savings time ends so the sun gets up earlier.
Keep on posting Judy!!

It was fun meeting Kathryn ... what an awesome quilt shop. It would be dangerous to my Visa if the shop was here instead of WA...LOL>
The study is not finished, yet. We're waiting on the electrician who will be here tomorrow. For the weekend, Glenn reconnected the router, but he's taking it down again tonight. I have no idea when we'll be online again, but hopefully before this coming weekend. In the meantime, here's how last week went. (Cathy, you've already read this since a copy of what I posted to Gladys.)
Monday - cleaning ladies came. I was talking to one of them and discovered she'd been in my class for 2 years. Dang! I didn't recognize her at all! I felt bad,
but she didn't seem that concerned. That afternoon and evening, I kept thinking I heard water running. Initially I thought it was Kris cleaning something; then I thought Glenn was changing the water in the bird feed; and later I thought it was Glenn getting ready for bed. At about 9, though, I knew Glenn wasn't in the bathroom again. (This wasn't a continues running of water, BTW) I decided I'd
better try to discover what I was hearing. It was the water heater - it had rusted out or something. I got Glenn and then started putting towels on the
floor. Our water heater is in the same closet space as the furnace, so you know that means it abuts the bamboo flooring. Glenn got the water turned off and
started running water out of the heater into a pail. I called Randy who called Kris who came over. The water again ran under the hallway into the laundry a little and into Glenn's room. It came a little way into the sewing area. Between Kris and Glenn, they got it sucked up. Kris set one of those big fans that blows
hot air so it blew across the areas that got wet. Luckily that floor didn't warp or change color.
Tuesday - I got up at 6:30 so I could call the plumbing place at 7. Marion and his helper were here by about 7:45. Marion has been here a couple of times
before, so he wanted to know what we were doing now. (There's paper over the hardwood that's been laid in the living room and hallway.) I showed him the
bathrooms. As we were all coming out of the bedroom, I looked at the helper and he said, "Mrs. Iliff?" I said, "You were in my class, huh?" He said yes and then
told me his name because, as I've said many times, I can't remember names worth squat. You have to pay a little more for Joe's Plumbing service and items, but
they get here ASAP and they clean up after themselves. They put that sticky-backed plastic on the stairs so the dolly wouldn't mark the carpet. When they brought the old heater up, it leaked some water and Bryce cleaned it right up. We had a 40 gal. heater; now we have a 50 gal. one. I also asked them to put a drip tray (or whatever it's called) under the heater. This was a good thing because I kept trying to think of what we could do so if we had a leak again it wouldn't come out into the studio. While I was waiting for the call-back from Joe's in the morning, I sent a text to change my massage appt. Of course, we had no hot water Tuesday morning which worked OK for me but not Glenn. I took my shower at about 11.
In the afternoon I had a call from the radiology dept. at the hospital. I was scheduled for a mammogram on Wednesday, but they were having problems with the
machine and the repair person was comic in Wednesday. I had to reschedule and the earliest I can get in is right before Thanksgiving. Oh, too bad.
Wednesday - I had to pick up a prescription. When I sent the medical debit card in, I learned there wasn't enough money. I totally do not understand this
insurance plan we're on. At any rate, I had to pay the last $100 on my own. This did get me in gear to sort and organize the medical receipts, so that's all up
to date.
Thursday - I finally had my massage appointment. My left leg was really sore, but it's good now. At about 3 that afternoon, my friend Kelly called and asked if I could pick her up at Urgent Care and take her to the ER. Off I went, speeding most of the way. I couldn't understand what she was telling me when she called, so I found out what was going on the way to the hospital. It seems that she had some kind of reaction to a blood draw. She got nauseous and really cold, she couldn't
breathe, and she lost most of her voice. She also was running a fever of 102. When we got to the hospital, I went in with her to make sure she go in OK, then
I came home and waited for the call to go and get her again. I don't think they know for sure yet what happened. She sent me a text Saturday and said she thinks she's trying to pass a kidney stone. She also said that she thinks there was
more than one thing going on. We "text-ed" today, and she said she's feeling really good. Her DH had left in the morning to go back to Thermopolis where they have another house. I know he left in late morning, and
he must have had some errands to do in Casper. When Kelly didn't call him after the first time when she said I was taking her to the ER, he decided to turn
around and come back home. She sounded a lot better yesterday.
Friday - I had a hair appointment at noon. Kris started bringing in the cabinets for Glenn's study. The tall cabinet couldn't make the corner into the room, so Glenn and Kris brought it in through the window. While Kris was working, Glenn asked about the electrical outlets and I asked Kris. I don't think he thought about it before, but all the outlets are going to be covered by the cabinets! Now the electrician is coming Monday and we're at a standstill. When I got home from the salon, I learned that the electricity was off in our neighborhood. Kris said he heard a loud bang and then there was no electricity! This was about 2. It didn't come back on until 4:30 or so.
So, my plan to get lots done didn't pan out the way I thought it would. I have accomplished a lot, but that's been in between stamping out forest fires! I
finished the quilting on the wall hanging, but that's all I've done. When Kris lays the flooring, dust comes through the pot light holes and ends up on my machine. When he laid the flooring in Glenn's study, I just closed up the cabinet because that floor is directly over the cabinet. I finished two scarves, but I haven't blocked the one yet. When I started the 2nd one, I realized I didn't have enough yarn. I stopped Friday and was able to get more for that scarf and
more for a couple of others for which I already have the yarn. Obviously, Vannetta doesn't have a big yarn clientele for yarn or I wouldn't have been able to
get the same dye lot! I have been working on my iTunes music, too. No, I still don't have that totally cleared up. There is an app called SoundHound that's
like Shazam but better. I play the song on the computer, tap the button on the phone, and I get a page that has the artist, name of the song, name of the
album, and the year the song was released. I'm only as far as the B's, but I'm getting there. I've read 2 books, but that's nothing out of the ordinary.
With any kind of lucky, Kris should have Glenn's room finished by Wednesday or Thursday. As I said in the beginning, Glenn is taking the router down again tonight, so I'll be without internet service until the room is finished. I did figure out how to post to Facebook, but I just skim that. I haven't missed the computer at all except for keep up with all of you. I thought I might go through some kind of withdrawal, but that hasn't happened. LOL! This next week will be like last without the disasters, I hope. I do have to take my car in to have something to do with the tires replaced. It's not a tie-rod, but whatever it is will make the tires wear more evenly.
Have a good week!

LOL! Thanks, Kathryn! I really am as calm as I sound. I think it has to do with teaching teenagers for 30+ years! The only time I really got upset was when the water heater leaked. We just had the bamboo flooring replaced last year because the sewer backed up. Bamboo stains when it gets wet and you can't must replace parts of it. I told Glenn and Kris I wanted to throw up but I couldn't because they had the water turned off! LOL!
Thanks, BTW, for the card. I was going to send you an e-mail, but I decided I'd only say what I said here; so, I decided to just post it once! I did enjoy receiving and reading it, though. :-)
I think the final book of the Inheritance (Eragon) comes out this week. I pre-ordered the actual book because I donate them to our alternative high school when I'm finished. I'm not much of a fantasy/sci-fi reader, but I've enjoyed these immensely.

This weekend, my aunt, Judy Iliff, my uncle & I went to the SD Book Festival in Deadwood. We only attended the Friday evening Literary Dinner, however it was a great time! Some of my favorite authors were there: Sandra Brannan, CJ Box, & Craig Johnson. What a great line up! They all told fantastic stories and talked a bit about what they have been up to.
Other than that, I think it's going to snow here soon. I heard that there was snow up near Deadwood yesterday. It seems like it is way too early for snow, but I'd rather have the seasons than none at all!
Hope you are all doing well out there in cyberland!
