Anybody want to lead this discussion? I loved the book but it's been awhile since I read it. I'll give it a go, though.
Kashi, what are some of your thoughts? I'm assuming they're conflicting hence the uncertainty. Is it about the book as a whole or about the end or something else? Actually, I thought the oddest and most intriguing thing was their inability to see color. I definitely was uncomfortable with be ambiguity of the ending.

Why did the ending make you uncomfortable? And is this the first time you've read it or did you read it as a kid as well? Have your thoughts changed since then?
I recently finished reading all 4 books in The Giver series. None of the others quite captured me the way this one did. I never read this book as a child. I first read it in a children's lit class in college. I really enjoyed the ambiguity of the ending, though I might not have liked it so much if I had read it as a kid. I saw the movie last summer in theaters. It had been a while since I read the book, so I don't know everything they changed, but overall I thought the movie was well done, too.
