Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I will start things off. I used to be a dog-person all the way. Then I had to give away me dog, because I could not take care of her anymore. It tore me apart inside. Then I got a cat. I have found that now I am a cat-person all the way. They are independent, easier to care for, very affectionate, and fun. I don't have to give up my cat, because I can't take care of it. Cats are a lot easier to care for than dogs. Don't let anyone tell you that cats aren't fun and affectionate. They are every bit as much so as dogs.

message 3: by Kenzie (last edited Oct 21, 2008 10:43AM) (new)

Kenzie Okay, I like cats all the way. Cats, unlike dogs, have their own personalities. Not to say that dogs aren't their own, but they don't make you work as hard to please them as cats do.

A dog, you walk into the room, what do they start doing? Barking, jumping on you, wagging their tail.

Cats? They ignore you, they glare at you, they might even leave the room.

Cats you have to work to be affectionate with, dogs are shallow.

message 4: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ I like both dogs and cats. They're both equally cute and all.

But I'm a bit more of a cat person. I just don't have the kind of attention span to deal with dogs ... they're just too energetic. Adorable, but there's just SO much stuff you have to do to take care of a dog. Dogs are very dependent on you.

Cats are independent. They can mostly take care of themselves, which is nice. And they're also cute and cuddly!!! XD

It makes me mad when ppl are so rude about cats. I have a friend who's like "EEW! A CAT!" every time she sees one. XD How can you think a cat isn't cute? They're just as cute as dogs, sometimes cuter!! tee hee

message 5: by Court (new)

Court I'm a cat person :)

message 6: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) I love cats! They are adorable!

But I love dogs more. I mean, it's not pleasant when they like your face, but they are just so fuzzy and loveable.

Not to say that cats aren't, of course. Really, the thing that tips the scales for me is a runny nose and watery, itchy eyes when confronted with cats. Dogs are fine, but cat's are not. I have to bring benedril when I go to somebody's house for a long period of time when they have cats.

But there is one thing that we should all discuss and agree on:fish.

They look cool, but cleaning the tank is a pain and quite smelly. And you can't do anything with them and they don't live long.

message 7: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ Yeah ... fish are pretty dull. And you can't cuddle w/them.

Well, technically you could, but that would be very strange. Plus the fish would die. Unless you were underwater WITH the fish. But then you might squish it by accident.

I'm thinking into this too much, aren't I?

message 9: by Court (new)

Court Every fish I've had died in a about a week. Except the Japanese fighting fish. That one lived about 8 months or something.

message 10: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie It was a strong fighter.

Lol, XD

That was kind of corny of me....

message 11: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin I'm a cat person!! XD

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) I love both!

message 13: by Eric▲ (new)

Eric▲ | 716 comments "catus lupus Felamiliaris Canis" then?

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

This hard....I had a pure bred pitbull that I LOVED, but I also had like, 15 cats too. So, I guess I like both. I only like certain dogs though, and I've never met a cat I didn't like

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) i've had 3 cats and 1 dog

message 16: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) I like puppies/dogs because they're more playful (cat lovers, you have to admit this). I only like certain dogs though. Little dogs (just some) are a bit annoying to me. Like chihuahuas. *shudder*
I like cats becuz they're super e z to take care of. But they get hair all over the place, as do the dogs.
I don't think we can clump them together. Some cats are cool, some dogs are cool. Some cats suck, some dogs suck.

message 17: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Well I didn't mean to stereotype, but most cats are less playful than dogs and need next to no exercise. I don't know if it makes them better or worse. I suppose it depends on the owner.

message 18: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) My cat used to play fetch all the time with me. Unfortunately, she was a one ball cat, and Mom lost her ball.

message 19: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) cool. every cat I've met just walks away.

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) I don't like it when my cats won't play with me...There are some dogs that are just plain annoying! They have a funny bark and they think that they're really big, when they're really small! I don't remember the name of the breed... Pugs are ugly...sorry, if you have one...

message 21: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie Like I was saying before. Cats make you work for their attention, dogs don't. I think that's what makes the change between being a cat lover or a dog lover is whether you enjoy working to get loved, or like being overly loved by an animal.

message 22: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie And cats are NOT lazy.

My cat Buddy, he has no front claws and still manages to catch bunnies/squirrels/chipmunks/flies/bees you name it, he can catch it.

My aunt's dog on the otherhand doesn't fetch things, lays on the couch a lot, and--when I enter her house--jumps all over me knocking me to the floor.

I love them both, but I think I prefer the quiet love of a cat to the obsessive love of a dog.

message 23: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I don't have to work for my cat's attention. She jumps up on my lap on a regular basis. Sometimes she wants negative attention. I don't pay any attention, and, in a few minutes, she stops whatever she was doing. She does jump up on my lap a lot, though. She does it without me telling her too. No offense to anyone who feels otherwise. I guess I just have an overly affectionate cat.

message 24: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) My cat has found a ladybug in my apartment. She follows it all over the apartment. Sometimes, she tries to catch it, but a lot of the time, she just follows it to make sure it stays in line. It is really cute.

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) lucky, my cats run away from my family

message 26: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 931 comments cats because im not the type that can give attention all the time

message 31: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments It depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes I am up for tug-o-war, sometimes I'm up for sit down and shut up. I just don't want to limit myself to one animal.

message 32: by Emma (new)

Emma | 387 comments Dog. DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG!
K, I'm done.

message 33: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Lol. Let's hope so. That's a lot of dogs...

message 34: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malloryrose17) Haha, I'm terrified of dogs, so I'm totally a cat person.

message 35: by Emma (new)

Emma | 387 comments LOL. But, those puppy-dog eyes...

message 36: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malloryrose17) That I see in my nightmares... Lol, jk. No, seriously, I'm way scared of them.

message 37: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Really? How come? Is there a story?

message 38: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malloryrose17) Well, sort of... I guess... *tilts head* I had a bunch of incidents with dogs when I was really young, and now I'm terrified of them. Like, to the point of I'll cry and scream of one comes near me o.O

message 39: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Ok. That's sad. Maybe you have Canine Phobia or something. You really should try and conquer your fears... Test it out sometime. Start out with a nice dog. A big one. Little ones are always too loud and mean, usually. I'd say get a Sheltie. It's what I have (and two Chihuahuas that we breed), and she's the nicest dog in the world. They are super smart too.

message 40: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malloryrose17) As tempting as that sounds...

message 41: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments lol

message 42: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malloryrose17) Exactly :)

message 43: by Emma (new)

Emma | 387 comments Yeah, but there's this funny thing with my mom, because when she was younger her cat scratched up her arm until it was bloody, but the funny part is that she can't have cats anyway 'cause she's allergic to them.

message 44: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments Ouch

message 45: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malloryrose17) No kidding... o.O

message 46: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments lol

message 47: by Kenny (new)

Kenny (kjamesmobile) | 905 comments Ow. Yeah, I always carry my cat kinda like a scarf. I will take both her front legs in one hand and her back legs in the other and sling her over my neck. Usually she purrs like crazy, but just a minute ago, she freaked out and clawed my back. Hmmmm. Mean kitty.

message 48: by Emma (new)

Emma | 387 comments Think about it this way...
Puppy-Dog Eyes or Claws and fangs =D

message 49: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malloryrose17) Well, considering that both cats and dogs have claws and fangs...

message 50: by jeeves... (new)

jeeves... | 644 comments i'm a cat person, myself... i have no real issue with dogs, except that they smell worse than cats, their usually too friendly (jumping on you, licking you, etc...) and they never seem to give it a break.(okay, maybe i do have some issues w/ dogs...)i'm also a bit scared of some of the larger ones, but not all larger ones- just certain specific dogs that just creep me out. not like screaming and crying scared, but i'd-rather-not-pet-that-dog-thanks scared... ther have been about five dogs in my life that i liked, the rest i at least disliked, as opposed to only one cat i ever disliked- which was pure evil, but it wasn't mine anyway, so :p
yeah, cats seem so much smarter too, they seem to be thinking half the time; i've never seen a dog think... haha, on america's funniest videos, there was this one cat sitting on a wash machine with like thirty pieces of dog food, and it was one at a time separating a single piece of food and pushing it off the edge of the washing machine to the dog on the floor- the cat would watch the dog eat it, wait for a couple seconds, and send one more piece over! now, you can't tell me that isn't evidence of real thought...

wow, long enough? geez....
