Lily (lilithesque) Well, just got Directv hooked up again and am in hog heaven watching all the stuff I missed.

Well, not all the stuff I missed. I watched the first Trueblood and then they took all the episodes off On demand. Drat. That was a big reason I got Directv was for the three months of free HBO so I could see it. Arg.

Anyway, the good news is I am seeing Bedlam, and Torchwood, and lots of stuff I wanted to.

The bad news is I have not been reading as much as usual. Ah well, the shine will wear off soon.

Carolyn F. We've had Directv for over 10 years because they have the NFL package. My husband has liked the Cowboys since 1976 so when they're winning only 1 game a season, it was either get Directv or go a sports bar and watch their games because the regular channels haven't had them on every weekend. It's been worth it to have him home watching than away for 3+ hours.

I just bought the first 3 seasons of True Blood. I already had the first season, watched the 1st and 2nd on HBO and then stopped watching them although I wanted to. Now I'll go through them in a couple of months and watch them all in a row. I loved that series.

Lily (lilithesque) Now Torchwood is not available anymore.

Ahhhhhhhh.

I am getting Sunday ticket for free this season as a welcome thing. It has so many features, I am not sure how to start. This is a dismal year for us Bronco fans anyway. But Tebow may give us something to watch. We'll see.

Lily (lilithesque) On a good note, enjoyed the return of the walking dead. Dead set is available through free on demand. If you like zombie stuff, a must see. I liked it better than walking dead. Unfortunately only six or so episodes.

Carolyn F. I love the Walking Dead, Lily. I just started it about 3 weeks ago when they did a marathon of season 1. So good, now I have it tvo'd so I don't miss it. I heard on another group that it was a graphic novel series so I ordered the first book from the library.

message 6: by Lily (new)

Lily (lilithesque) Yea! I am thinking of putting the Graphic Novels on my tbr list too.

Lily (lilithesque) I am finding the Walking dead to be dragging for me. I will keep watching though.

I admit, this season I started watching "Dancing with the stars". I have always scoffed at all the reality shows and so I was a reality tv virgin. Well, I loved it. I so voted for J.R. . On my phone, my moms phone, the house phone and my daughters phone. Well I was hooked. The whole death threats for Chaz was what got my attention, and then the dancing and competition kept me hooked. Anyone else.

I guess I will add, I on demanded 10 sessions of Game of thrones and LOVED it. wow. So well done. I watched it in 3 days. Are there more? Are more coming?

Well, that was my week.

message 8: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. My husband loved Games of Thrones and kept trying to get me to watch it. I'll wait until he gets the DVDs and then sit with him.

I've been watching Walking Dead, but haven't watched the last 3 episodes, they are on my Tivo. I still haven't got the first book from the library, after the show started they became very popular.

I love reality TV, starting with "Real World" (the first season) - no make that "7-Up", that British documentary about a group of elementary school kids that they went and visited every 7 years. That was fascinating. I think those kids are very close to my age now. I get so hooked on reality shows. I know some people hate them, but I've always liked them.

Lily (lilithesque) I am so glad Game of Thrones is playing again. Love it.

message 10: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. My husband loves the series too. I walked in on the topless gal last night :)

message 11: by Lily (new)

Lily (lilithesque) Yea. I was just commentig to my mom that I think they are going overboard with the nudity and sex theme. It really doesnt bother me but this is the kind of show Id like to watch with my granddaughter or mom and I would be embarressed because there is too much nudity with sex type stuff going on.

Yet and still, I will watch it alone and keep watching it because I am rivited. I may be forced to readl the series.

message 12: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. The guy I work for says there's a lot of nudity and sex scenes in the books, so maybe the series is even toned down compared to the books.

message 13: by Lily (new)

Lily (lilithesque) Ahhhh, that makes sense. I thought it may be like the sookie books, which are pretty tame sexually, as opposed to the series. (Both of which I love)

message 14: by Lily (new)

Lily (lilithesque) Ack! Game of thrones is over for the season, (really enjoyable if you ask me!) but the realllllly good news is tonight is True Blood. I am sooo excited.

I used to love the book series of Sookie Stackhouse but its been going downhill ever since True Blood came out. She should have killed the series off several books ago. Supposidly next year's book is the final one. I tried watching just one episode of True Blood (when I had a free weekend of HBO) and absolutely couldn't stand it. To me, it's only loosely based on the novels since they changed so much.

Carolyn F. I read an interview with Charlaine Harris where she said they started out with the basic premise of her books but then imagined them a different way - so bizarro Sookie universe. I love the series but maybe because I read the interview first and knew there would be a lot of differences.
