Joe Mossa | 23 comments
carson mcullers,dorothy parker..i have crushes on writers.

message 6: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurita) Joe Kavelier is pretty hot. He knows magic. Also, Stephen Daedalus from Joyce, and you'll all hate me for this, but Yossarian. For authors, I'm going to go with Twain and Cortazar.

message 7: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 510 comments I have to go with Edward Cullen, although Tom Booker from The Horse Whisperer is mighty fine, too.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

George from A Room with a View!

message 9: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (lorrietruck) Will from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials for sure. Oh, and maybe Ron Weasley from Harry Potter.

message 10: by Kellie (new)

Kellie (acountkel) | 992 comments Harry Bosch
Joe Morelli and Ranger

message 11: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments At this point it's so difficult to separate the book characters from the movie characters, but my crush is on Snape from Harry Potter. But I really think that is because of how Alan Rickman portrays him and his voice. *drools*

message 12: by Liz M (new)

Liz M Faramir from The Lord of the Rings . A courageous warrior that preferred learning to fighting, with the wisdom, strength, and humanity to disobey edicts for the greater good.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

fun thread fiona!

message 14: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandadiane) | 23 comments Jasper Hale from Twilight. Edward is a tad bit too controlling for me. I wouldn't be able to put up with him in real life.
Jasper <3.

message 15: by Jill (new)

Jill (wanderingrogue) | 329 comments His Grace, the Duke of Ankh, Commander Sir Samuel Vimes.

For those who don't know who he is, look him up. For those who do, I don't need to explain.

message 16: by Mandy (new)

Mandy I'd say Jack Reacher from Lee Child's books, I picture him as Val Kilmer, slightly younger than he is now and a little more slight.

message 17: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Kartik, Kartik, Kartik. From, GUESS?!

The Gemma Doyle Trilogy.

message 18: by Lynlee4 (new)

Lynlee4 | 117 comments I love this question! There are so many...

Definately Edward Cullen! Joe Morelli and Ranger from the Plum series, no doubt.

I fell in love with Alex Cross in the book series and was so bummed when they had Morgan Freeman play him in the movies...too old.

In a motherly way I love Odd Thomas.

message 19: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Agree, Lynlee, I thought Morgan was too old for Alex Cross, I had pictured him differently, younger, buffer, etc.

message 20: by Ann from S.C. (new)

Ann from S.C. | 1395 comments Alex Cross, I love Morgan Freeman!!

I am also loving Miles Roby from EMPIRE FALLS. He seems so sweet.

message 21: by Mandy (new)

Mandy I like Morgan Freeman in general, think he's tops, just thought Alex was a bit younger.

message 22: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10652 comments Mod
LynLee4 I second Odd Thomas. Something about that guy that just screams HUG ME sometimes huh?

I fell in love with Dexter Morgan from the Dexter series.... it also helps that I get to watch him every Sunday nite now too....

message 23: by Annette (new)

Annette (annette_marie_reads) | 12 comments Jessica-- I have to say that I completely agree with you about Snape/Alan Rickman! I think my first book crush was on Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind. And after that the only one that stands out is Mr. Darcy, but I am sure there have been others...

message 24: by Marsha (new)

Marsha Another Edward fan here too...

and oddly enough... Snape too because of Alan Rickman? Have you seen him in Sense and Sensibility? He makes the most divine Colonel in that story. I just want to whack Marianne upside the head for ever faling in love with that young cad in the first place. Willoughby is creepy.

message 25: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (angelashly) | 160 comments Joe Morelli from the Stephanie Plum books.

Henry from The Time Traveler's Wife

message 26: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments But then with Alan Rickman's silkily sexy voice Snape took on a different kinda meaning.

Fiona, I couldn't have said it better myself! I won't lie, even in real life, I've always had a thing for teachers. Especially the ones who act like jerks but you want to believe that it's all just an act. Which is why I ALWAYS believed that Snape was a good guy, even from the very beginning.

message 27: by Marsha (new)

Marsha I always believed Snape was good too. My daughter and I had an ongoing disagreement about that.

message 28: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 163 comments Jamie from the Outlander series.
Joe Morelli from the Stephanie Plum series.
Dirk Pitt (in my mind he looks like Tom Sellick)

message 29: by Paula (new)

Paula | 1098 comments Aside from Edward Cullen and Joe Morelli and Ranger, my newest crush is Gabe Ortiz from the Benni Harper series by Earlene Fowler. He sounded pretty scrumptious in this last book! LOL

message 30: by Dorie (last edited Oct 22, 2008 05:47PM) (new)

Dorie (dorieann) | 430 comments Lord John Grey from Gabaldon's Outlander series. (Sorry, all you Jamie lovers!) So what if he's gay? He's fictionally anyway. He's just such a good person -- er, character.

Lynlee and Lori, I know what you mean about Odd Thomas. Koontz created a great character in him. (By the way, have you read the graphic novel prequel "In Odd We Trust"? If so, what did you think of it? Other than wishing it were longer, I enjoyed it and thought it was well written) Sorry, end of hijack.

As for as the Evanovich books, I'll take Ranger any day. The rest of you can fight over Morelli.

message 31: by Sherry (last edited Oct 22, 2008 05:49PM) (new)

Sherry I adored Jamie from Outlander,and yes Lord Grey was wonderful as well.Also Stu from The Stand.I just loved his character.

message 32: by Lori, Super Mod (new)

Lori (tnbbc) | 10652 comments Mod
I did not know that the graphic novel had been released. I might have to look into it now. Im not a big comic book fan... hmmmm...

message 33: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (glinda) | 48 comments I confess to a crush on Henry too.

message 34: by Nawar (new)

Nawar (nawaralq) | 199 comments I've never had a crush on a fictional character, I always thought that made me cool, but I feel lame now haha.
I want a fictional crush too!

message 35: by alicia (new)

alicia grant (shesha556) Great question and have had a crush on Dexter as well.Also Eric the Vampire from the Charlaine Harris Books.Sirius Black.Erick from Phantom of The Opera.

message 36: by Sherry (new)

Sherry I was crushin on Stu long before the mini series and though I hadn't pictured anyone remotely like Gary Sinese I was ok with the choice (he is wonderful,ernest and honest looking,what's not to love?!)Actually,Gary Sinese starring in Of Mice and Men had me crushing a little on George as well.

message 37: by Sherry (new)

Sherry I agree,and I loved him in both Apollo 13 and Forest Gump as well.There's just something about him....

message 38: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) | 18 comments Ranger from the Stephanie Plum books;
Lazarus Long from Heinlein (yes, I know he's often a jerk, but a good one);
Cesar Millan, can't help it, I know he's not fictional, but the crush will have to be;
I'm a Jacob fan from Meyer's books, but will wait for him to get a bit older. I like Edward with Bella, I wouldn't want to interfere *ha, ha* ;
Masterharper Robinton from Pern/Anne McCaffrey, and also F'Nor;
Most of the men in Nora Robert's books, she's great at writing really likable guys;
Jean-Claude from Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books is awfully sexy, in a almost-too-pretty way;
Doyle in Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series is just plain hot;
from HP, I prefer Professor Lupin.

message 39: by Sherry (new)

Sherry LOL!

message 40: by Marsha (new)

Marsha LOL Catherine- I agree Jean-Claude should stay away from the lace. I think Richard is the one who could wear anything he pleased and still be smokin'!

And as for Merry Gentry's men... I think Frost does the trick nicely too.

My daughter is in love with Sirius Black. I never cared for him much because he bullied Snape.

message 41: by Darla (new)

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments Good Lord! What can I say that hasn't already been said....

So there is first and foremost always going to be Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. There is just something about him that makes you believe from the get go that there is just something so much more about him.

Okay, so although Mr. Darcy will always hold the first true book crush spot in my heart, there will always be Legolas and Aragorn from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Older Peter (As in High King Peter) in the Chronicles of Narnia.

I more recently decided on Lee Scoresby from His Dark Materials Trilogy, but most likely because Sam Elliott played him in the first movie (The Golden Compass) and there is just something about big dimples and a deep voice.

My huge book crush right now?

Most definitely Edward Cullen from the Twilight series.... However I don't think I need to say anymore than that seeing as almost every thread from here on up has something to say about his eternal hotness. :)

message 42: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 382 comments Yeah, I'll jump on the EC vamp train as well. His hotness is clouding my vision for other characters at this present time.

message 43: by rebecca j (new)

rebecca j (technophobe) | 6029 comments I have a crush on Harry Dresden, Ranger, Legolas, Sirius Black, and Adam from Brigg's Werewolf series!

message 44: by Annette (new)

Annette (annette_marie_reads) | 12 comments Alicia- How did I forget about Sirius Black!? I definitely had a crush on him as well :)

message 45: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 163 comments Darla---Mr. Darcy is forever in my mind Colin Firth. I read somewhere that his version of P&P is porn for thinking women. Ahhh.

Catherine---I'm with you on Jean Claude by my preference has always been Frost in the Meredith Gentry series (talk about porn!)

JG (Introverted Reader) Okay, here goes:

Hank from Charles de Lint's Someplace to Be Flying

Rodrigo Belmonte and Ammar ibn Khairan from Guy Gavriel Kay's The Lions of Al-Rassan (2-for-1!)

Alessan from Guy Gavriel Kay's Tigana

Joscelin and Hyacinthe from Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy trilogy (another twofer!)

It's been a while since I've read any of these, but, as several other people have mentioned, Jamie is hot from The Outlander series.

The movie and the book are all one in my head, but Wesley from The Princess Bride

Joe Morelli is yummy. I've only read the first of this series, so I don't have an opinion of Ranger.

Edward is a good one, but he would smother me, so I don't think I'm as crazy about him as a lot of others are. Just my opinion.

message 47: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 24, 2008 09:48AM) (new)

I read Romeo & Juliet in 9th grade and fell completely in love with Juliet. Then our class watched the movie and i fell in love with Olivia Hussey. Then I read it again in college and fell in love with her again. So I guess I'm eternally in love with Juliet.

message 48: by Cheri Howard (last edited Oct 24, 2008 10:51AM) (new)

Cheri Howard Jesse — I could repeat everything you wrote and substitute Romeo for Juliet! Except for the movie part, then I would have to say I had a crush on both Olivia Hussey AND Leonard Whiting...so dreamy!

Others I crushed on include:

Noah, The Notebook
Aragorn, LOTR
Henry, Time Traveler's Wife
Heathcliff, Wuthering Heights (what can I say, I guess I just wanted to fix him)

Abigail (42stitches) | 360 comments I kind of fell for Mrs Dalloway. Not just out of sympathy either. I wanted to get in her head.

message 50: by April (new)

April (escapegal) | 130 comments Dirk Pitt. Yum. Brenda, did you know Sahara was made into a movie? Tom Selleck didn't play Dirk, though...do you want to know who did? I don't want to ruin your fantasy, but the guy that plays him is who I pictured!
