Stephen | 6 comments I saw this movie at a screening in Seattle. It was shot on a tight budget in LA locales during a period of fires, which gave it an odd hazy look. Really did enjoy it, Alanis Morisette was surprisingly strong. Faithful to the book. Some of the scenes could have benefited from additional takes with the young actors.

thanks for your input ... I was afraid that IT WAS A TERRIBLE MOVIE based on the quality of the official trailer.

Bad lighting, bad acting, un-special effects ... is that not how the film was? Is this cinematic version of RADIO FREE ALBEMUTH going to become a classic, as happened to a critically-panned Blade Runner?

Radio Free Albemuth has been hailed as the most faithful PKD adaptation and Best adaptation of PKD to the screen by many festivals, fans and scholars.

The filmmakers have created a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a hybrid distribution, with a small theatrical release combined with the new digital model of offering the release through various satellite, broadband, and internet methods.

AND THE BIG NEWS IS - I have received response from John Alan Simon (the writer/director/producer) and Elizabeth Karr (co-producer) that they are willing to field questions from our group. Still working out the details, but if you are interested and don't log in daily, you may want to keep an eye out for this and your chance to ask questions of the filmmakers (who naturally are huge PKD fans)

Congrats to John Alan Simon and Elizabeth Karr. RFA's Kickstarter fundraising target has been achieved.

This should get Radio Free Albemuth in some theatres, as well as release on DVD, Cable, VOD, and on digital outlets like Netflix, iTunes, and Hulu.

John Alan | 13 comments Though we've reached the "goal" on Kickstarter, this was always a bare bones minimal target. 10% goes to Kickstarter and there are costs associated with most of the rewards - so what's left is truly the minimal needed to give Radio Free Albemuth a shot in the marketplace. Just announced some great new rewards like hardcover first edition signed by David G. Hartwell, original editor and publisher of RFA. So please continue to spread the word - still 48 hours to go! And we have a shot for a faithful PKD adaptation to break the Kickstarter record for distribution funding Thanks to Byron and other supporters from GoodReads. Keep up the conspiracy to bring Radio Free Albemuth to a reality near you! -- all best, John Alan Simon, writer/director RFA. Now that I've found this group - I'll hopefully be back to participate as long-time PKD reader/fan.
