okay, last post!!! good night!
okay, last post!!! good night!
I still think she's OKAY. Not my favorite. :P
I liked tris I thought she was cool, she was always so strong and took such a beating from Peter then turned around the next day and almost killed Molly...she's awesome
i think she's a great female character! not wimpy, not whiny, and faces life with vigor. one of my favourite heroines :)
I loved her! <3 She has flaws, but that made her more realistic! And I thought that she handled situations logically - as in, she didn't always know what to do, but often she had a very good idea (like the ferris wheel). Loved her!!!!! <3
I loved Tris in Divergent, but she sort of annoyed me in Insurgent. I didn't like that she went against Tobias and everything he said or asked her to do. He asked her not to do something or go somewhere and she did it anyway. That was a little irritating to me. Tobias started to grow on me even more because of this. I almost felt bad for him more than I did for Tris.

I can't wait to see what happens in the third book. I'm going crazy waiting for it!
I really did love her. I’m not sure about her actions in Insurgent. I have yet to read it. She was a really strong character, and I found her really… realistic. She didn’t always blame herself on everything, and she acted like a normal teenager.

Out of the recent books ive read, Tris is the only female lead that I actually enjoyed reading about. And yes, I totally agree with you! Tris is so realistic. She is not perfect...Roth lets the readers know that for a fact. Also she makes their (Tris and Tobais') relationship even more realistic. There are days in every relationship when sometimes you just dont feel like dealing with your significant other or days you just want to be with them without having to work out the visible problems.

It helped me relate to her more! :)

I do supposed it is a bit of a double standard, I think maybe my higher expectations for Tris made me only see all the things she did to him/lied to him about. I guess reading from her perspective really highlights everything she has done wrong and not him. But I do agree that he hasn't been completely honest with her either.
I love tris she is strong and nothing like all of those other whimsy characters authors put out there (evermore series) she is tough and is always thinking outside of the box trying to make rhings right herself. I do however think it was wrong to lie to Tobias as many times as she did a couple was fine but every time was too much for me. And I realize Tobias lied too so it evens out but it's almost as if she doesn't care for him, which I know she does but it was annoying. The ending was great it left me throwing the book out the window and in desperation of the third book
yea, i think tris is cool..like i did NOT expect her to choose Divergent,...it really surprised me..
I love Tris :)She had many flaws and wasn't perfect, which made her appear more humane. It didn't surprise me when she turned out to be Divergent, but I wasn't expecting it neither. The idea of having 2 or more factions as a result sounds very cool :D
Yeah, I think Tris is a really great protagonist. I've seen way too many female protagonists that are love struck, idiotic, way too dramatic, and seems to never get physically hurt.
Tris is a great character. Yes, Tris has flaws, but she has characteristics that a lot of people strive for. Loyalty, bravery, extremely smart/perceptive and selflessness are only a few. Tris and Tobias' relationship has lots of ups and downs in it, which involved arguments. If you think about it, no relationships are perfect and if there weren't any arguments then it wouldn't work out.
That's why I like her so much. The fact that she is a character with realistic dimensions is something I really like about her.
I read an article about Shailene Woodley being casted as Tris and in the article/interview she shared some of her thoughts about it. I don't think Shailene is right for Tris. The way she talked about the character made me feel like she won't be right for this role. She almost knew nothing about the character and the way she described her isn't anything like the actual character. Plus, her comparing these books to Twilight and Hunger Games didn't make me very happy considering I'm not a fan of those. I was wondering what all of you thought about Shailene being casted as Tris?
Oh, really? I saw Shailene in her show, The Secret Life of the American Teenager (which is the worst show ever), and I didn't really like her as Tris. :/

I don't think Shailene is a good choice, either. I mean, she's pretty and all. Are they going to dye her hair blond?? And she doesn't seem like someone who could go through all the pain that Tris did.

I don't like when they change the appearance of a character when they adapt the book to a movie. The thing about her being able to tolerate all the pain that Tris did was definitely something I considered. She just doesn't seem like she could portray the same personality and characteristic traits that make up Tris.
There's also the fact that there aren't a lot of younger acters out there. That's probably why they are considering her to play the part of Tris.
I think there are a lot of younger actors out there, but because of their youth, they're not as experienced or skilled as older, more mature actors. I did love the kid actors for The Hunger Games, though.
I'm not really happy with it. I guess it could be worse, but I don't find Shailene that good of an actress.
Well, I know that a lot of people wanted Anna Sophia Robb as Tris. Honestly, she just doesn't Tris enough for me, and she is an amazing actress and I am a fan of her but I just couldn't see her being Tris.
I haven't seen Anna Sophia Robb act, but she seems pretty cool. I can sort of imagine her being tris, but now when I think of tris, I always imagine her as shale be woodley! :/
Yeah, same here. Yes, I know that Shailene Woodley is not that good of an actress but you never know. She might just be the person to really get in touch with the character, understand the character, and do a very good job portraying the character. When it comes to book-movie adaptions my main things are character portrayal and reflection, and plot.
