Sorry to hear you did not enjoy it. I too thought you could really tell it was written by a newbie, but thought it showed alot of potential. I remember thinking that all the aspects were almost right.I liked the way their history unfolded and the relationship build. I did not like the end, I thought it all came together very awkwardly and I always think that the whole book hinges on the ending!
Agree that the plot elements were right up HP's alley, which is why I wanted to read this book. Execution left a lot to be desired though. I think the plot elements in the hands of a more refined writer could have made this a really emotional and enjoyable book.
But again, not to say this writer doesn't have potential, just that the first try did not impress me so much. But to be fair, I'm pickier and harder to please than most and it takes more to impress me than most other HP readers out there. I don't know when I became so jaded.

I read this book couple months ago, and i thought it is very good. This is the 1st book i have read by this author. I can't wait for the next book by her.
hmm quiet intrigued reading so many different comments, will pull it out of my TBR and read after i finish current ones
Have read Once Touched, Never Forgotten, gave it 3 star, okay read nothing interesting that will keep glued to the book, its quick read with same old heroine jumping to her own conclusions and secret baby plot
Like Booklover, I give it 3 stars, She is new and will do better with more experience. It was a bit slow, but better than some in this month's group. This one is not a keeper.
After seeing all the comments here, I think it's official- I'm a hardened, world-weary cynic who's impossible to please. I think that episode of South Park ("You're Getting Old") was about me :/.
I liked this one (★★★★). I thought it was well written and hit the normal HP tropes. If I hadn't known it was a debut novel before starting it, I don't think I would have suspected it. I think it's much better than many of the books that legacy HP authors put out this year.My one big problem is that I thought the hero was too pushy at the beginning of the book. For me, it was more of a turn off than a turn on.
Also, I wasn't a fan of the miracle pregnancy in the epilogue because (a) it gives false hope to people who struggle with fertility and (b) uses having a baby as the proof that you have a successful, loving relationship.

This is a new author and I had read some good reviews for this book and author. I have to say it was a thorough let down. I thought neither the writing nor the story were up to standards for an HP and could really tell this was written by a newbie. There was something just awkward and not quite right with the writing and story. Both lacked finesse and development. As far as first time attempts go, I have seen much better with Annie West, Kelly Hunter and Lucy Monroe who had me hooked with the first try. This is not to say I won't read her again as she may show dramatic improvement à la Mira Lyn Kelly. But after this one, I have to say I'm not dying to read her next book, Once Touched, Never Forgotten, out next month.
Overall a disappointing read and a disappointing debut. Nothing terrible, mind you, but thoroughly "bleh." What did you think?
