Less than two weeks away from Halloween, I want to know: what are some of the best books to read for Halloween? And by Halloween, I mean anything that puts people in the mood for the season - they by no means have to be directly related to Halloween.

This year I'm reading some cozy mysteries to get into the Halloween festivities; such as: Trick or Treat Murder,A Catered Halloween, and Aunt Dimity, Vampire Hunter.Last year, I read two that I really liked and they were: Dracula My Love: The Secret Journals of Mina Harker and Dracula in Love.
I re-read Dracula first and I had a fun time comparing all three.
Two years ago my book group read "Frankenstein", and I've heard another local club is reading it this year. I enjoyed it a lot.
I don't think I've read any of the Dracula's. Will have to do so at some point.
Could one of you ladies (maybe Diana) give me a lesson on how to give the link a title like you did above. That looks so much nicer than the big old long link. Thanks - Carol

then click search
*A list of books will come up
*Click on book title - to see if its the right edition that you want
*If its not - click other editions
*A list of different editions will come up - Just click on book titles until you find the edition you desire
*Then click the add button
*You should see the link in the comment box
I hope this helps.
Lauren, I LOVE this topic! I’m a sucker for Halloweeny books. My favorites over the past couple years are The Haunting by Susan Hill (LOVED IT), Hallowe’en Party by Agatha Christie, and Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury.
I’ve read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, based on Dracula, but it was way longer than necessary, in my opinion. Oh! And The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters is quite good.
I’m currently reading Apartment 16, which is long and not really delivering for me. And it’s taking me so long to get through it that I don’t think I’ll have time to read anything else spooky before Halloween! Wah!
Diana, I put Dracula in Love on my Amazon to-read list some time ago. Did you enjoy it?

Yes, I did. And I'm very glad I read Dracula, My Love first. It was a great base to enjoyed Dracula in Love even more.
What I really liked about the book were the women and medical issues bought up in the novel. There is a non-fiction book I read called Blood Works that's a good tie-in for some of the medical issues.
Now there are some far-fetch moments in the book i.e.
"Solomon" that I just burst out laughing !! :D I couldn't help myself!!
I do remember that when I finished the last page of the book - thinkin' "Boy, Dracula must have really been in love". Hee! Hee! :D
Thanks Diana for the "How to." That will look a lot better than long old links.
What a fun list of reads you ladies have read/compiled. I haven't read much Halloween before except Frankenstein. I'm running a little behind on OUR reads right now, as I've been enjoying "Olive" & "Bartimaeus" and shouldn't have even looked at them until I got our stuff read. Oh well, going to work hard this weekend to see if I can get "Remarkable.." done. Have a good day and weekend all. CJC
