What's it like writing in your local area?
Is there lots to inspire you, great places to write, and lots of great writers to mingle with? Or could it do with some improvement?

For any Australians interested in writing a novel: I am seeking expressions of interest for a 20 week Novel Manuscript Development Program, to start mid Feb 2012.

The details are at:

Random House Australia have agreed to let me submit outlines + samples for manuscripts from the Novel Manuscript Development Program directly to their publishers, which is great for aspiring novelists who don't have an agent. :)

At this stage, the most likely locations for the program to run is several of the following: Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

Applications are open for The Australian Literature Review's Novel Manuscript Development Program.

20 weeks beginning Feb 2012. Weekly 3.5 hour classes in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and maybe a fourth location. Workshop aspects of your novel manuscript with at least several guest novelists. Cost: $1000.

Opportunity to have an outline + sample of your manuscript sent directly to publishers at Random House Australia and HarperCollins Australia.
