The first time I saw him on the TV, I thought he'd make a perfect Roger. I'm glad that others thought the same thing.
Great Roger Wendy! I know some don't like Roger but I think he's such an interesting character. I can't wait to find out what happens to him in the next book.
I think Roger is the most realistic character. There are very very few people who could travel back over 200 years and fit right in like Claire and Bree. Roger struggled. That was real to me.
He struggled in more ways than one, finding his own identity because he's a different kind of man than Jamie. I think Jamie respected him for that. I never did understand why he wanted to become a (view spoiler)
I think it was because (view spoiler), music kind of lost it's charm for him. I think it stunk that when he finally found his calling it was ripped away from him.
I always thought he wanted to be a minister because he was around it so much as a child, watching his adoptive father. Roger is a kind soul and he found that religion was his calling. Whereas Jamie was born to be a warrior, not that he didn't have a kind soul.It was just different for Roger. I hope that in the upcoming book(s), he finds the calling again.

Maybe it's because we see Jamie as the warrior type and Roger as the scholarly type. Complete opposites. However, I like Roger. His character adds so much to the stories.
I don't know why? I love Roger :) I think he and Bree are a great fit and he's loved her for so long.
I actually really like Roger Mac. I want to be his friend. This actually how I picture him: (not sure how to post an image so the link will have to do)http://www.imdb.com/media/rm350667033...
Oh ok, that just surprised me bc I can't imagine why someone wouldn't like him. Oh man, I luuuuvvv Richard Armitage! I have a celeb crush on him. :)

We agreee! ;)
has anyone read the short story in Songs of Love and Death: All-Original Tales of Star-Crossed Love about roger's da? it was short, but cute and the way 'lil roger was describe - I just wanted to pick him up and hug him
Matt Bomer is definately a great pick, so is Richard Armitage. I'd love to see a movie but I don't think 1 could do the series justice. A mini series could work though. I have always seen Rachael Weis as Clair and Gerard Butler as Jamie. Never thought of Roger though.

We all have different likes - I just can't see what you see in R Armitage. Guess I can't stand thin lips.
I really love Roger too. I love the story line with Roger, Bree and Jem. They bring "family" to the Ridge for Jamie. And I think Matt Bomer is a perfect Roger!!!
He's def purty, but can Matt Bomer speak Scots convincingly? Or, at least speak English with a convincing Scottish accent? That's the part I won't be able to overlook. :)
That is the hard part, for sure. We can only choose base off the physical look of them. I haven't seen much he's been in to be sure of his acting though. A good coach can help a good actor do a good accent, lol!

I just hope if they do cast Americans/Canadians they get someone with a talent for accents. Like Elijah Wood in LOTR! Or, Gwyneth Paltrow in Emma or Sliding Doors or Reneé Zellweger in Bridget Jones. :)
Wendy F wrote: "I totally get it, meaning not Mel Gibson ala Braveheart?"Hehehe...weel, I do love that movie, but I'll give ya that his accent was a bit "meh." He was so purty to look at that I found I didna mind it, though. At least we had a huge supporting cast of Scots to be able to hear the real thing! ;)
During our trip through Scotland the movie Braveheart came up in conversation. According to our guide, who was very knowledgable in history of Scotland, as well as England, confirmed that William Wallace (Gibson) would never have painted his face blue. If it were a movie about the Picts, then yes, but not William Wallace. But I digress.
I've heard that before Carren. Jen, I love that movie too. But because it's so dramatic, not necessarily an accurate movie, lol. I didn't really pay much attention to his accent in that movie, honestly. It's just that I've heard so many complaints about his accent in that movie.

As much as I love Braveheart, I didn't really notice Mel Gibson's accent - I was too transfixed by his hair extensions.

I totally agree. He is perfect to be Roger Mac. And he is tall enough.
Well! I dunno. Maybe. Roger was supposed to be taller than Bree and she's at least 6' tall, right? For some reasons I'm so stuck in the height thing. Wanna get it right.
oh my goodness! Matt Bomer would be prefect as Roger Mac...he has that sweet look in his eyes that I've always imagined Roger having
Over all height is not as important in the movie because they can do so much just with camera angle. look at what they did in Lord Of The Rings.
I agree about the height, who knows who they will find for Jamie and Claire...Do you really think they will make an Outlander Movie? With all the YA movies being made, i'm just not sure it will go into productions before the contract on the book runs out.
I thought Roger was only an inch or so taller then Bree. Jamie is 6'4, and I thought Roger was more then just 1 inch shorter...
He's beyond hot... Those eyes are amazing :) I used to watch him on a show about a thief working with the FBI... what's it called? ugh!!
