This topic is for discussing book selling - using book stores (offline or online), running book stores, authors and publishers engaging with book sellers, etc.

Do you run a book store? Can you recommend a good one (and explain a little about why it's good)? Or what do you like in a good book store?

allbooks4less book stores have sprung up along the east coast of Australia, from Melbourne to Cairns.

They have some great prices, with lots of good novels at $5.

I love Readings in Melbourne - friendly, open and they even let me have a book release at one of their stores.

The $5 and $10 book prices at allbooks4less can serve a beneficial function for authors.

When an author's backlist is not selling in large quantities, it can be good to drop the price and get them selling again. This also works to promote the author and their more recent books - so it can even have benefits for backlist titles which are still selling well.

It's not such a good option for a new release title, unless the author/publisher is deliberately pursuing a low-price, high-volume strategy for the book.

Danny Fahey (dannybfahey) | 5 comments Perhaps it depends on if it's a strategy entered into with the author or despite the author.
