About Facebook
I personally hate facebook.I'd be interested in pointers Elle, if you could spare them.
I am a twitter-a-holic and find it much more effective.
Tawny, I know how it can be. Here is an article I did for a self-publishing web site. It focuses on blogs but works very well for Facebook to. Let me know if you have anymore questions.http://editioselfpublishing.com/how-t...

you can actually link your twitter updates to Facebook status, killing two birds with one stone.
speaking of dead things here is my page aha http://www.facebook.com/pages/David-A...
Now you can link Twitter, FB, and Google+ (if you're using the Chrome browser) with the extension PublishSync
I have an author page on FB. I'm trying to sort out what to do with it. I've seen author's post the same content on their author page as well as their personal page. To me this feels redundant (at this point most of my fans are my friends, too!) and it's double the work. Then I thought I'd delete those 'friends' who aren't my close friends (as in people I don't know personally) from my regular page and ask them to go to my fan page instead. Again, I've seen other author's do this. But, I don't know if I like this idea either. I enjoy the interaction on my regular page better than the author page, so I tend to spend more time there. Like I said, I'm still trying to sort out what I'm planning to do with it. But, here's the link if you care to 'like' me anyway... http://www.facebook.com/authortricias...
Carroll wrote: "I think I will, Tricia. Like you, I still don't know what to do with my Facebook account, either. LOL So far, I have only been using it to stay in touch with long distant friends and family."Hi Carroll and Tricia,
I have many things. LoL Facebook, author page, blog, twitter. But over the two years since I opened them, I've assigned each one to a different job so to speak.
Author page (books, trailers, updates) Facebook (a personal one for friends and a fan page for the novel) Seraphine blog (reviews/author tours) and twitter (well, that one goes without saying, I think) They're all linked now. So a like on one, is directly linked to the others. Same with posts. I thought it was a bit overkill at first. But people enjoy the variety/personalities. Hope this helps a bit.

So I have an author page and a private page. Trouble is I can't become a fan or friend other people with my fan page (or at least I don't know how to).
Saying that, my twitter is @bluegrassbrooks you can friend me on goodreads and my fan page on facebook is https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kathle...

@Tricia - I feel exactly the same, but there are many people who are on one of my pages and not the other and vice versa, so I do duplicate posts about my book. On my personal page (which isn't very personal), I add other funny things my daughters say or photos of my pets etc. I much prefer my personal page.@KaSonndra - how did you link all your places so that a like on one is a like on another, or did I misunderstand?

You can use a software suite like Hootsuite or pingFM for posting on several sites at the same time. For multiple likes at once, you can link your facebook to your website, twitter, etc. and make that happen. Hope this helps.

I follow the same practice as Kathleen and Carroll - separate personal and author/publisher FB pages - for the same reasons. It occurs to me that we can help each other here by liking each other's author pages. Mine ishttps://www.facebook.com/Lee.Holz.Far...
Put a like on my page, post the link to your page, and I'll give you a like back.
Bridget wrote: "Got you, Lee!"Thanks, Bridget. Can you give me a live link to yours? Go to your FB author page, copy the url and paste it back here. The link you provided above is not live. You can see the difference between live and not-live links because the live ones are green.
I only have a personal page on Facebook, but love connecting with fellow authors: http://www.facebook.com/mariasavva.au...

Currently, I only have a personal FB page. I am looking into starting a new page to pop my name out there as well. I would be happy to have you glimpse into my personal life on FB and get to know me a little better. I have sent requests and posted "likes" on all of the pages I have seen above so far. I have also subscribed to all feeds.
