I know I've already used this book once, but it has so many great lines that it deserves to be this week's post as well. I try to quote Atticus Finch on a daily basis. He is such an amazing man.

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view--until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it."

Justine Philyaw (jphilyaw) When I come across a line in a book that really strikes me, I write it down. So while I may not be able to recite all these books from memory, here are some of my favorite quotes from books I have recently read:

"Practice isn't the thing you do once you're good. It's the thing you do that makes you good." Malcolm Gladwell, Outliers

"If you are standing in the manure pile, it's somebody's job to mention the stink." The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver

"The most important part of a story is the piece of it you don't know." Also from The Lacuna

"There's a tendency today to absolve individuals of moral responsibility and treat them as victims of social circumstance. You buy that, you pay with your soul. It's not men who limit women, it's not straights who limit gays, it's not whites who limit blacks. What limits people is lack of character. What limits people is that they don't have the nerve or imagination to star in their own movie, let alone direct it." Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins

Justine Philyaw (jphilyaw) Of course, there is also The Outsiders...

"As I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I only had two things on my mind. Paul Neuman and a ride home."

And you can't leave out, "Stay gold, Ponyboy."
