Oh yeah. I think anthologies are the best! My favorite ones are the Weird Tales ones or ones collected by Marvin Kaye. Some of the anthologies I have:
Haunted America: Star-Spangled Supernatural Stories
Masterpieces of Terror and the Supernatural
Masterpieces of Terror and the Unknown
Weird Tales: 32 Unearthed Terrors
Weird Tales: The Magazine That Never Dies
Weird Vampire Tales: 30 Blood-Chilling Stories from the Weird Fiction Pulps
Some of my favorite author collections are:
The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories
The Thing on the Doorstep and Other Weird Stories
The Dreams in the Witch House and Other Weird Stories
For the Blood Is the Life & Other Stories
The Horror Stories of Robert E. Howard
The Return Of The Sorcerer: The Best Of Clark Ashton Smith

I like to discover interesting books on the library sales shelf--$1 for a hard cover--usually it's 2 for $1. I have found some nice books. My favorite recent find was an anthology of classic supernatural/gothic tales--The Turn of the Screw, some Poe, that kind of thing.
I spend much of my weekends (and virtually all of my disposable income) at used book stores, garage sales, flea markets, library sales, thrift stores etc. in search of works of horror and science fiction. My best finds have been a copy of Robert Aickman's "Cold Hand In Mine", a copy of "Amphigorey Too" and a 4-dollar copy of Algernon Blackwood's "Tales Of The Mysterious And Macabre"

I don't blame you at all. I have done a lot of looking at the used bookstore for classic horror volumes. I'm jazzed a lot are available on Kindle now!

The one good thing about the Kindle editions is that I can make more room for classic horror volumes. :)
One of my all-time favorites, "Dark Forces" edited by Kiby McCauley,A wonderful cross section of horror and dark fantasy that still holds up after repeated readings. I can't recommend this anthology enough.

Yes, I believe "Dark Forces" was published around 1980.
Worth seeking out.
I recently found, at a used book store, a copy of "The Star Book Of Horror, Vol 1", edited by Hugh lamb. It has stories by, among others, E F Benson, Charles Birkin, and Ramsey Campbell; but it does not appear to be on here. Has anyone else heard of this book, and are there any others in the series?

I definitely am. I have collected a lot of these volumes, both thematic and by authors. I usually catch them as a bargain, but I have occasionally splurged on the rarer ones (Manly Wade Wellman, William Hope Hodgson, Anthony Boucher).
Even though I have many of these stories in other formats, I couldn't resist picking up these collections at Barnes and Noble because they were $7.98 (less with my discount). It's nice to have have them in one volume.
The Screaming Skull and Other Classic Horror Stories
The Body-Snatcher and Other Classic Ghost Stories--this one is excellent. It has many of my favorite ghost stories. Pick it up if you get a chance.
M is for Monster
And I try to buy most of the Wordsworth ones.
What about you?
