Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Well, it's soon going to be upon us! NaNoWriMo (or NaNo for short) is coming up! It stands for National Novel Writing Month and takes place during November. So who all plans to participate this year? Or who wants to (like me) but probably won't have the time to complete it (again like me)?

Im participating, but doubt that I'll finish it. Oh well, fingers crossed I do well :)
I'll post my user name on here once it begins.

message 3: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, I have a great idea this year- unlike the past several years where I would've liked to do it but I was void of all ideas.

message 4: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!
I am so totally doing NaNoWriMo!

message 5: by David (new)

David jones | 8 comments So I am I. My first yer doing it. Its going to be fun. I got a charrie outline, and other outlines completed now I just gotta wait til Tuesday to start writing

message 6: by Mayze (new)

Mayze I would love to, but I'm super busy :( Maybe I'll try anyway.

message 7: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) The thing is, I'm in the middle of another novel that I LOVE to write, and I've got a half of an idea for a NaNo.

message 8: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Anna- same here, but we'll see how far i get.

David- outlines never really work for me. They just don't flow with my writing style. I guess I've been doing Rps for too long where we just have a basic outline of how it should go but mostly just 'free-style' it.

message 9: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I'm one of those people who would love to, and will probably try, but will probably fail. I am seriously lacking in both ideas and time, but we'll see what happens.

message 10: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I did it last year and won. I've never felt anything so satisfying as tallying the 50,000th word. I want to do that again.

message 11: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Congratulations!

Time to start trying to think of ideas....

I dont pre-plan ideas for NaNo. Well, I didnt lsat year (my first year) and wont this year. Its cool to suprise yourself. Like last year, I had the smallest idea in very, very late October: A comedy about a lonely old man who lives in New York. Then I just wrote, not knowing anything, and it all started to present it self naturally. I think I wrote about 25,000 words in total, and might finish the story one day.

I have a few very faint ideas for this year, but I have no idea what my final product will be. Im excited to see though!

message 13: by anilee (new)

anilee (anileesghost) | 46 comments I can't not do NaNoWriMo, regardless of the fact that I'm going crazy with busyness this year.

Last year, I somehow managed to finish in eleven days, though, so nineteen more will feel like a lifetime.

message 14: by Mayze (new)

Mayze I think that I'm actually going to try. My friend helped me brainstorm an idea today, so I might as well.

message 15: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I was talking to one of my friends and she agreed with me that trying to do it if you're a student would be really hard. But I'm going to attempt it- and even if i get half of it done, that's 1/2 of it i wouldn't have done otherwise.

message 16: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid That's the way to look it at, Rae!

message 17: by Colby (new)

Colby (colbz) And if you don't think you can finish it during NaNo or hit 50k, you don't HAVE to do it during November...you just don't win.

message 18: by Ayunda (new)

Ayunda (ayundabs) My first year! Good luck everyone, it starts today!

message 19: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Good luck everyone!

8:17PM, day 3, and I've restarted my story. Awkward.

message 21: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid That sounds like what I did the first day, Jess, jut it was the first day and a bit more manageable.
But I'm sure whatever you come up with will be great.

message 22: by Mayze (new)

Mayze I restarted mine on the second day, so no worries :)

message 23: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I've barely written any- I've got 200 some words? Yeah, based on this number, I'm not gonna win. But I'm gonna push myself to write.

message 24: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Um.....nothing? You're all beating me so far.

message 25: by David (new)

David jones | 8 comments Somebody should preview some of my Nanowrimo novel and tell me how it is because I am not so sure about it. And it is uploaded on goodreads

message 26: by Mayze (new)

Mayze I'm at close to 1,300 words, but I should be at 5,000...so yeah...

message 27: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I am now at 690. Given that I started it at 6 today, that's not too bad, but given that I need 50,000 by the end of the month........well, it will be fun to try.

If you want us to read your writing, David, post it in the writing section of this group. Otherwise we can't find your individual writing unless we're friends, since your profile is set to private.

message 28: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I am at 3,400 roughly. I'm going to try to get 5000 tonight though.

message 29: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Anna, does your username have to do with your nickname? Because I may have found you, but I don't want to befriend a random stranger. Although the bio looks like you, too.

I am now at 2779.

message 30: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, still at my lousy 200 some.

message 31: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I think that I'm at 5600

message 32: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 4295 comments Mod
Ive got like 3 stories, at about 500 words each. Someone fails NaNo this year :/

message 33: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Not necessarily. Maybe if you keep going with all three and then use a combined total.....

message 34: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Yeah, the word count that you write in November is what counts. :D

message 35: by Mayze (new)

Mayze Kate wrote: "Anna, does your username have to do with your nickname? Because I may have found you, but I don't want to befriend a random stranger. Although the bio looks like you, too.

I actually am not using the website, I'm just doing it for fun, so don't friend the random person. Also, out of curiosity, could you tell me (not here) the bio?

message 36: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I'll message it to you. The location was off, but I just thought it was remarkably similar. (But not quite close enough)

message 37: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I figured I'd have more motivation to do it with the website. It would sort of be keeping me honest, and being able to put the total in somewhere makes me very much aware of it. Plus the stats feature is really cool.

message 38: by Mayze (new)

Mayze I haven't done nearly enough, so I'm pretty resigned to not finishing, but I'm glad that I at least started...

message 39: by David (new)

David jones | 8 comments I have at least 7000 words written. The equivlent of 17 pages. But I am still determined to finish this.

message 40: by Kate (last edited Nov 06, 2011 04:40PM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I've gotten to 7301. At this point I think it's about 50/50 whether or not I finish.

(For me that's 12 pages)

message 41: by Far (new)

Far | 2 comments I failed doing it last year, and I'm pretty sure I'm failing for this year too. I've gotten 1700 words, and I'm currently having a writer's block >.<

message 42: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I hate when that happens. Usually I have a lot of trouble coming up with ideas, but this time I came up with one pretty easily, and so far it's expanded relatively naturally. I even have some idea of where it's going, which is unusual for me.
