A girl with cat ears sat under a dead tree, being soaked by rain. She hugged herself to try to keep from shivering
Jace walked past, keeping his hood up to keep the rain out of his face. He really hated the rain, mostly because it obscured his somewhat visual-sense by adding millions of rain drops. He felt almost completely blind now, and managed to miss the dead branch on the ground and fall, barely catching himself and avoid a faceplant.
Jace looked around, as if trying to see her. It seemed pretty strange considering he was blind, but he didn't care about looking weird. "I'm fine." he said, finding her at last.
Jace looked around. He realized that must of looked pretty weird. "Oh, sorry, I must look crazy. I'm just-looking around." he said, hoping she'd miss the blind eyes.
"Bless you." Jace muttered insticntively. "Sorry, I have to be someplace. Bye." he said, turning on his heel and managing not to stumble for a few feet.
Clay stood a little distance away from them, obscured by the shade of the sickly-looking Yew tree, and sheltered from the insistent rain. His eyes fastened onto the lines of graves that stretched out like a parade, away from the slight rise upon which the tree, and it's dead brother stood. They stood out like flaming beacons, their graves. Even through closed lids, Clay knew their names, would never forget, his dead, his kills, his murders. Archie Flinders, 82,died of natural causes, Ryan Murphy, 27, died of a gunshot wound, Clarice May, 73, car accident, Doris Price,54, heart attack, Lucas Fiddler,10, Leukemia, Preston Chase, 91, died of natural causes, Frida McAffrey, 35, complications from childbirth, and two days fresh, Talbot Hunter, 35, internal haemorrhage.
Only they hadn't died like that, not how they said they had. It was him, he had taken them, and here he stood, a coward afraid to die, frozen by his fear, his guilt, his life.
Their brief conversation caused him to look up. Did she have cat ears? Couldn't be, damn light playing tricks. 'Hey, girl, whatchu doing in the rain? C'mere, it's dry.'
Jace had started walking away, when he froze, standing on the edge of the curb frozen stiff. Behind his eyes, colors bloomed and floated and formed into a real event, one that would happen if he didn't stop it. He saw a girl with cat ears, a boy marked by death, and a bunch of people grouped together, and something bad happening. He put a hand to his forehead, thrown out of the vision. His knees buckled, and he fell heavily back on the curb, a deep feeling of dread washing over him. He'd seen a lot of bad things, but that vision felt wrong, and he didn't like it one bit.
She looked up, her ears perking up. She scrambled up and ran over to him, shaking herself dry "thank you"
Clay shrugged non-comitally, and managed a small smile, 'welcome', he said shortly, 'what were y-', out of the corner of his eye, he saw the boy who had spoken to the girl fall. Instinctively, he left the shelter of the tree, splashing across the rain-slick grass towards the edge of the graveyard, where the boy was inexplicably, lying.'Hey, mate, wake up... you alright?' Clay shook the boy's shoulders, ignoring the rain as it spattered down upon them.
Jace turned up to face him. That voice sounded familiar, but he didn't know how. He put a hand on the back of his head. He had a slight headache, a normal side-effect he wa used to, so he wasn't worried. "I'm alright. I just fell." he said, shaking his head.
'Here,' Clay offered the boy his arm, and helped him to his feet,' you sure you're OK?' He'd heard many assurances from people that they were 'OK'as he did his daily rounds at the Hospital, and usually they were not OK, in fact, they were far from OK. He scrutinised the boy closely, he appeared shaken and slightly embarrassed. 'Well either way, we should get outta this rain dontcha think. I know a place, we cun dry off over a cuppa, or a pint if that;s your fancy.'
Jace took a moment to decipher what he had said. "I'm okay, promise. Just a head ache, but coffee sounds good, if that's what you mean." he said, standing without difficulty. But the renlentless rain was still messing with his sense of things.
The girl sat down and hugged her knees, looking at her feet. Her ears twitched whenever there was a clap of thunder
'Yeah OK, I know this little cafe place, we can grab a coffee there, lest get outta the rain eh, sound good.'Clay grinned easily, and gave the girl, who had for some reason decided to sit down, a hand up. Removing his coat, he draped it around her shoulders. 'Here, this'll help keep you warm,' he added kindly.
Her ears perked up again "thank you..." she stood up slowly, her white sun dress was soaked and clung to her body in some places
Jace nodded. He suddenly realized this would mean people really close. Well, as long as he didn't look them in the eye, they probably wouldn't notice he was blind.
Glancing back at them to see if they were following, Clay ducked under the awning of a nearby Newsagents. 'It's just down here, watch your step, get's slippy sometimes.'He led them down a narrow side street to a well-hidden little cafe. The bell tinkled over the door as they made their way in, and a pretty woman in a white apron looked up. 'Alright Ness? I'll have my usual, coffee for him, uh...' as he realised he had no idea how his two new chance acquaintances liked their drink.
The girls ears were flat against her head, her bare feet numb from walking on the cold, wet concrette. She looked around curiously
Jace barely made it to the shop, nearly falling on his face multiple times, but manage to stay upright. "Just black coffee please." he said, hoping he was facing the lady.
She looked at the bell over the door and moved it with her hand, listening to it ring. A small, playful smile appeared on her face as she played with the bell, watching it swing side to side and listening to the soft ring
Vanessa bustled forward. 'Shame on you Clay! Look at the state of them!' Shoving him aside with a thrust of her hip as she made her way past towards the girl, who Clay suddenly realised, was barefoot, and clearly distressed by the cold. With a comforting arm around her shoulder the strawberry-blonde waitress ushered both the newcomers to a nearby table.
'What would you like honey?' she asked the girl, jotting down the boys orders. Belatedly Clay sat himself down opposite her. looking a little shamefaced.
She frowned as the bell got farther away. She looked at the woman pulling her away from the new found toy and looked down at her feet shyly
Jace sat down, slightly confused. His sense of everything was sharper now that he wasn't out in the rain, so he knew where things were, but it was still amazingly disorientating.
'Did you say milk sweetheart?' Vanessa's left eyebrow crinkled slightly in a small frown.'Clay sensing the new girl's distress intervened, 'Yeah, best make that warm milk, with cream then.'
'OK' Tara's concerned gaze lingered on the girl, but flicked the order onto her notepad.
'Warm creamy milk, straight black coffee and an Irish coffee, Bushmills I think, coming right up.'
Clay waited till Vanessa's shapely rear disappeared through the swinging kitchen door before he turned to the two of them.'You OK there girl, what happened to your shoes?'
Something about the way she sat hunched into her chair, looking so cold and miserable, made Clay reach out an arm around her shoulders, and before he realised what he was doing, he was giving her a one-armed hug, muttering 'there, there, it's alright, it'll be alright.'
She tensed up a bit. Her tail rose up from where it had been hidden under her dress, moving side to side. She snuggled into his warmth and she let her hands fall, her ears coming out from the sides of her head. She made a soft purring sound

((Ohh gosh I'm so sorry DragonDreamer I had no idea:(Do you want me to edit my posts? Eheh I too was wondering what time it was:p I thought since it was raining it might be either early morning or evening))

((yup me 2... i need to know for introducing Tara... but Idk how to do that if it's night or day... it depends for her... I suppose I could do the others...))Brick ran through the rain, looking for a comfortable place to warm up when he spotted the coffee shop. He ducked into it, knocking the bell off of the door as he entered. He sighed and apologized, putting it back on the door and muttering something about bad luck, a thing he was quite familiar with. He sat down at a table and ordered some coffee. He took his hood off and removed his wet sweater, trying to dry off.
((Uhmm I could respond right now, but I duno if we should wait for Emily. DragonDreamer, I'll change her name to avoid confusion k? I just wanted an Englishy name that was also American))
((oh haha Woolfie no problemo. If you don't mind just changing her name, or even not, I could intro my Tara too. Maybe it can be a funny thing that there are two Tara's working there? :) Either time is good for me ))
((Heheh I like the idea of there being two Taras lol I just randomly up and created a waitress coz there wasn't one at the time and it's natural for one of those to be found in a cafe XD))
Non glided gracefully down the street. She looked otherworldly almost, but not overly so in that she didn't appear human. She had just been enjoying the view from her shack when she decided to take a walk about the town this fine morning to enjoy the lovely sounds and sights that enveloped the city.
((haha right. it was an accident, but i find it incredibly amusing that she is like my own. I get what you mean though that it could be confusing))
