Stacey I was up at 1:30 this morning and listening to my beloved snore away, too. I know I'm going to crash hard later, but I was wide awake. I did get some good reading time in!

Robert (bobhe) You are patient my other half gets elbow in the ribs!

Mary | 236 comments Stacey, can your sweetie handle your turning on the light and reading in bed when you're awake in the middle of the night, or do you leave the bedroom and go somewhere else. I've got to stop just lying there when Q's snoring or I'm awake for whatever reason. Much more sensible to get some reading done! Last night it wouldn't have worked, though, as we were in the process of getting a foot of snow and we lost our power for over 12 hours! It's a huge relief to finally be hearing our furnace again! ;-)

Theresa I am the guilty snorer in my marital bed. When the elbow in the ribs doesn't work, my husband gets up and reads. This is probably one of the few reasons he likes living apart.

Stacey Mary, I can't turn the light on, but I can usually go back to sleep. I was just AWAKE this morning! I'm getting kind of tired now and I still have to fix dinner.

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) I have had only 4 hours sleep in over 36! 2 hours before last nights shift and 2 this morning. I have just come back from a concert and still haven't got to bed yet!

I don't know how you do it, Lynne! I see Melki hasn't been around today. She's probably in bed.

Sam (ecowitch) | 157 comments I'm functioning on lack of sleep this morning thanks to various cake related panics during the night. I've managed to talk myself into making a friend's birthday cake and my mum's new job cake both for this weekend (don't ask how I'm not entirely sure)! Have to start them tonight so hoping that'll calm the old nerves...fingers crossed!

message 9: by Melki (new)

Melki I'm back, and well rested after a good night's sleep. There may have been snoring, but I slept right through it. A VERY generous shot of Kahlua in milk right before bed may have had something to do with my blissful slumber.

Gretchen (gkonkler5) Yes I find vodka can lend a helping hand to sleep myself.

I started listening to a book when I can sleep or outside factors are keeping me up. Like a rambunctious kitten or a teenage daughter out late.

Melki Are you there, vodka? It's me, Gretchen.
;-)

Gretchen (gkonkler5) EXACTLY!!!

message 13: by Stacey (new)

Stacey I think I'll take my sleep aid now :)

Melki Bottoms up, everybody!

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) I finally slept for 11 hours after taking some Boots Sleepaid tablets on Thursday night. I did another shift last night but ended up with no electric from 1am till 5am this morning so had to do everything by torch light and candle! Thank god the patient slept well for most of the time the electric was off.

Just had some wine and will have a hot toddy later before I go to bed tonight.

Melki I was startled awake last night with that weird sensation where you don't know if you heard something fall over, or if you dreamed it. To make matters worse, the dog comes trotting back to the bedroom, meaning he heard a noise too and wants me to protect him. I decided that since I was wide awake I'd just get up. Looked at the clock and it was 11:56pm. I'd been asleep about an hour and 4 minutes.
Plenty of time to contemplate things before I fell back asleep. Hours of good thinkin' time. Lying in bed...in the dark...marveling at how loud the aquarium in the dining room is. Does that mean I need a new aerator? And isn't it weird how the LED on the answering machine bathes the room in this strange greyish glow and makes the ceiling fan look like a bird of prey about to attack...

I looked around this morning and couldn't find anything amiss. Maybe dog and I had the same dream.

Stacey You know, when I was milling about at 2 this morning, I wondered if you were up. Fortunately, I was able to go back to sleep!

I find advil PM to be helpful. If nothing else, it does relax me. I tend to have a difficult time falling to sleep at times.
